It’s not easy to write for the ‘young adult’ market, and less easy to get them interested in the past, but David Viner has attempted to do both with his Norwich time travelling series. The protagonist is Cassie, a 17 year old girl from Norwich who comes under attack from strange forces as she walks through Castle Mall, and finds herself transported through time into events from the city’s past. David Viner has skilfully created page turning thrillers that bend the mind around concepts of time travel and the paradox of meeting yourself at a different age, while at the same time introducing real episodes from local history.
Time's Paradox is the third in the series that started with Time Portals of Norwich.

Delighted to be supplying in Lincolnshire with a curated selection of local books. Although Burghley is outside our normal patch of Norfolk and Suffolk, we sourced a selection of relevant local history and guidebooks from our suppliers to fill their shelves. The result looks good and the books have been selling well, adding to their retail offering.

When he’s not writing walking guides Joe Jackson is a paramedic for the East of England Ambulance Service. Brought up in Norfolk he now lives in Glemsford, Suffolk and Weavers’ Way is the latest of his guides to paths around East Anglia. “I began writing the books in 2018,” he says. “I was walking the Little Ouse path but, apart from the OS map reference, there was nothing published about it. I just thought how much I would have appreciated a guide that covered not only the route, but also explained the points of interest and wildlife along the way.”

The Red Barn - LM West's fictionalised account of the famous 19th century Suffolk murder.
"The Red Barn is an excellent novel, well paced and hard to put down, yet it shows a deep understanding of how Maria [the victim] might have felt through the events of her life. The Red Barn deserves a wider audience and full recognition for the quality of the writing."

Much has been written about the Red Barn murder at Polstead in Suffolk – just look it up on Wikipedia to get a sense of what a dramatic case this was, and the amount of attention it gathered, both at the time and during the almost two centuries since it took place. There have been numerous books, ...

We have recently taken on several titles from the now closed down Larks Press, including two books of vintage mapping of Norfolk and Suffolk, and two volumes of Ghost Fields - read about them in our latest blog post.

The Larks Press was founded by Susan Yaxley in 1985, in part to provide work for her disabled son Thomas.  In the early days many of their books were typeset by hand and printed on a vintage hand press. Over the years that followed, Susan and Thomas published over 170 books, receiving the inaugural...
