Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke is a book that can inspire parents, guardians, and children to go to the beach and coast to have their own adventures and explorations, reviews Beck Valley Books Blog.

This beautifully illustrated book was an absolute joy to read! It took me back to the time when my two boys were very young and we spent a lot of the time heading to the beach to explore, have fun, and of course swim.

The pictures show how much there is to look at, listen to, and explore. Trying to identify the birds, the wildlife, the plants that grow in that particular place, as well as the lovely places to eat and take in the whole surroundings. Also teaching them about how waste, litter, and leaving things behind impact on wildlife and the environment.

My favorite part of the story was when one of the characters started to dream and make up his own little place of escapism. This is true of me when I get to the beach as I often become mesmerized by the tide movement helping me relax and chill out.

The story is one of adventure, exploration, and what a fun time can be had with a wide open space that is surrounded by amazing animals, plants, and of course the beach and sea which both hide a lot of secrets beneath their surfaces.

A book that can inspire parents, guardians, and children to go to the beach and coast to have their own adventures and explorations.

Help build sandcastles and play in the surf, or admire starfish and seagulls while also learning about how to care for the oceans and the environment. In Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke

Join Clementine and all her friends for a rollicking adventure along the coastline!

Help build sandcastles and play in the surf, or admire starfish and seagulls while also learning about how to care for the oceans and the environment. After a wonderful day spent in the sand and waves, enjoy a picnic under the stars and fall asleep dreaming about all the fun you had. Let Clementine be your guide on her greatest adventure so far-to the beach!

What a beautiful, diverse world we inherited, a planet simply bursting with innumerable wonders to enchant and delight us. At the core, Beachcombers is a children's book about gratitude and the need to both contribute in practical ways to an environment we should protect and to imagine the fullness of our origins, so we can shape an equally bountiful future. The story names birds, fish, fauna and other animals as a way to weave a tapestry of specific creatures whose ecosystems need care, and the sounds and rhythms of their pronunciations when spoken aloud will entertain and mesmerize young readers. The children, and their dog, lead us and teach us: we should enjoy the mysterious and fanciful world all around us, but we should also act as caretakers for our environment. After we work and play, we are inspired to indulge our imaginations and learn to dream. After a full day, we rest in our dreams of the future.

'This lovely provides a display of childlike wonder, the joy of exploration, and the importance of caring for our environment.' says Cover Lover Book Review of Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke.

Beachcombers has a warm, nostalgic ambiance to it that brings me back to my childhood days. It exudes warmth and adventure as Taliss, Conrad, and Cooper join Clementine on a fun day at the beach. The story doesn’t exactly explain how Clementine is a rescue dog. Maybe that is clarified in a previous book of the series?

I love how the young children care for the environment by spending time gathering plastic bottles, discarded beach toys, and other littler from the shoreline before enjoying the sun and waves. The scene is set up nicely, showcasing marine life, birds, and beach vegetation through lively narration and lovely, evocative watercolor illustrations. The story expresses the exhaustion the children feel after a full, productive day outdoors, to a T.

This lovely children’s book provides a display of childlike wonder, the joy of exploration, and the importance of caring for our environment. It teaches young readers that they can impact nature and make a positive difference in the world around them.

Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke
sends a positive and friendly message on the importance of looking after the environment to really be able to enjoy it, reviews Carly Wilsonover at I Create Purty Thangs

'Beachcombers: A Clementine the Rescue Dog Adventures’ is a beautifully illustrated read for not only children to enjoy, but their parents. I have previously read a Clementine book, and this was a perfect addition to a growing series.

The book focuses on a trip to the beach, and sends a positive and friendly message on the importance of looking after the environment to really be able to enjoy it. (They have to clean up rubbish left polluting the beach)It’s done in a really light-hearted and fun way, and you get to enjoy the adventure, whilst learning in the process.

This is an entertaining read and perfect for early readers. It’s not too lengthy, and there is enough activities to keep interest. I would recommend to all young children, especially those who love animals and going on trips to the beach.

"If you have an up and coming young environmentalist in your life, this book is a given. If you have a child that loves to learn, this book is a given." reviews Nicki's Nook of Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke

I have to tell you I love Clementine the Rescue Dog's stories. I'm the mom of three rescue dogs and cannot think of a better way to get a dog.

I also love that the Clementine books have some hidden messages. This particular one deals with lessons about the oceans and the environment. We all want to keep oceans and the entire environment for the next generations so we need to pass on lessons for keeping them clean. Clementine and friends do this in a way that kids reading the book will not notice they are getting a lesson.

If you have an up and coming young environmentalist in your life, this book is a given. If you have a child that loves to learn, this book is a given. Not only will any child enjoy the story, the pictures are amazing.

"I loved the message that this book is sending – that you can explore and also at the same time care for our environment." reviews Ebook Addicts UK of Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke

Clementine the Rescue Dog and her human family are back for another adventure, this time we are taken to the beach. I absolutely loved the illustration in this book as I have in the other books featuring Clementine. The adventure to the beach sees Tallis giving Coover and Conrad a sack and told them that before they can go swimming and make and castles they need to some cleaning up of the beach, I loved the message that this book is sending – that you can explore and also at the same time care for our environment. It teaches children and adults alike (as lets face it adults are most likely 99% of the time the culprit of the rubbish found on our beaches) that they can impact nature and make a positive difference in the world around them.

"I absolutely love that this entertaining and beautifully illustrated story focuses on the children preforming environmentally friendly activities." says Miki's Hope of
Beachcombers by authors Kyle and Barbara Torke

I absolutely love that this entertaining and beautifully illustrated story focuses on the children preforming environmentally friendly activities like cleaning up the beach before they have a great time swimming and making sand castles!! Of course their dog Clementine is right there helping them as is the adult in their life.

After the beach they were driven to a food place and without asking--picked up the garbage there and placed it in the correct containers. What a relief that the owner thanked them with a surprise!!

Whether your child can already read or you read to them this is a book they will request time and time again--and you won't mind reading it and looking at the illustrations right along with them!

* Our book review *
Grief is such a hard thing to battle through at any age, so I can't imagine how difficult it must be for a child to comprehend, especially losing someone to su***de. This supportive book is beautifully illustrated and works as a gentle tool for carer and child to openly discuss the heartbreaking events and their feelings to each other as it follows the little boy's emotional journey after losing his dad to su***de.

The authors deals with this in a delicate way and the child describes their feelings similar to a storm and an ocean which other children will no doubt be able to understand. The authors also touch on depression, conflicting feelings during the child's stages of grief, counselling help, school, and eventually happy times. Without giving spoilers I loved how the little boy created ways to be closer to his dad.

Although we tend to shield our children from events such as this, sadly they do happen and I'm so pleased that using their professional experiences the authors have made this book available to those who need it or who wish to learn more.
* About the book *
The death of a parent is heartbreaking, but the issues surrounding su***de can be even more devastating. My Grief is Like the Ocean was written by mental health professionals who wanted to support caregivers during incredibly difficult conversations with children. Using the latest research and clinical guidance, and told from the perspective of a boy who lost his father to su***de, this book will help children to feel supported. When caregivers and children read this book together, they will gain a valuable resource for engaging in honest, informative and heartfelt discussions to help families heal.

This book will:

Help children and caregivers talk about their grief experiences
Normalize and encourage the many emotions a child may feel after a loss due to su***de
Promote important dialogue and concrete ways to seek help for mental illness
Provide caregivers with ideas for developmentally appropriate coping skills
Offer additional resources caregivers can access for further support

"This is the one book all parents and clinicians need to have in their personal library. Adults now have a tool to help children navigate the difficult emotions of abandonment, betrayal, rage, and anger that often bubble up after the su***de of a loved one, but are often suppressed and left unspoken." -- Athena A. Drewes, PsyD, RPT-S, founder and president emeritus, New York Association of Play Therapy, past director of the Association for Play Therapy

"My Grief is Like the Ocean tackles the seldom discussed, emotionally wrenching and very difficult concept of su***de in a way that children can understand...delicately using the metaphor of the ocean to describe how its shifting waves mirror the boy's feelings. The explanations are concise. The opportunity for a child to acknowledge their feelings is boundless." -- Laurie Zelinger, Ph.D., ABPP, RPT-S, board-certified psychologist, author of Please Explain Anxiety to Me

"This book is important and much needed, since the death of a parent by su***de is one of the most complicated and devastating forms of childhood grief. I found the book to be brilliant and written with the foundation of great sensitivity and compassion. I also loved the eloquent use of metaphors throughout. Highly recommended!" -- David A. Crenshaw, Ph.D., ABPP, author, board-certified clinical psychologist

"My Grief is Like the Ocean addresses the complex and conflicting feelings survivors have when they have lost a loved one to su***de. It is a must-have resource for all therapists that work with children and youth, as well as the surviving family members who may need direction regarding how to support their children as they experience this unique form of grief and loss." -- Theresa Fraser, CYC-P, CPT-S, MA, RP, RCT, CT, trauma, loss, and attachment clinical specialist

Mark Nolan has always been an author I can turn to when I want to read something thrilling, adventurous, and clever. This latest book did not disappoint, reviews Lynchburg Reads of The Girl Who Escaped.

Whoa! Talk about aligning the headline stories on the news! I finished this book and then read about the college kids in Idaho. Looking back, that just makes this book even more chilling! Add to that, I have a kid who is heading off to college in a little over a year.

Mark Nolan has always been an author I can turn to when I want to read something thrilling, adventurous, and clever (whether it be in the twists of the mystery or with my favorite character of his - Cody - the dog). This latest book did not disappoint.

FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds is determined to help Angie unlock her mind on the incident. Her tenacity to get answers and find the killer is admirable. Too often, women sleuths are portrayed as cold and almost robotic. I could easily relate to Mark's characters!

All of the triggers and situations are current with headlines you'll see in the news, keeping you on your toes imagining that this could easily be all too real. The chapters are written a little short, but it definitely helps keep the story moving at a pace that you can't slow down and overthink.

🐢 Book Review - Practicing Mindfulness: Emma Lou the Yorkie Poo's Activity and Coloring Book for Kids by Kim Larkins, Author 🐢

This one is a must have for any young child, especially the way mental health is playing such a high role in the younger generation. On top of which, the characters are absolutely delightful, and the activities are really fun too.

The author explains mindfulness, staying in the present, and focusing on yourself, your feelings, and sensations, in small easy steps that a child can understand, and will want to learn more about. As well as the importance of being kind and caring towards yourself and others. My favourite section was filling in the sun rays and dancing like nobody is watching 😉

I also found this to be a great conversation starter for parents and carers if they wanted it to be.

I would definitely recommend this for a fun, feel good factor book for a child that also benefits their thoughts and perspectives.

The Girl Who Escaped by Mark Nolan is a contemporary, adult, suspense thriller focusing on the hunt for a killer. This is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, reviews The Reading Cafe

THE GIRL WHO ESCAPED by Mark Nolan is a contemporary, adult, suspense thriller focusing on the hunt for a killer. THE GIRL WHO ESCAPED is a cross-over story line with the author’s JAKE WOLFE series.

Told from third person perspective THE GIRL WHO ESCAPED follows in the aftermath of the abduction of four college friends in Miami Florida: Angie Taylor escaped and her three friends are found murdered in the back of Angie’s car. Desperate for help, Angie Taylor flags down a police car heading towards the scene, only to find herself the lone suspect in the murder of her friends when she is found with a weapon, coated in blood. Arrested, incarcerated, and assaulted by the people left in charge, Angie withdraws into herself, refusing to speak or acknowledge anyone’s existence for the next several weeks. With the help of Evelyn, a concerned nurse, FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds of the VSRT (Victim Services Response Team) contacts former combat Marine, Above Top Secret Black Ops specialist and attorney Jake Wolfe, and his Marine IED detector dog Cody (Jake Wolfe series) when it is discovered that Angie comes to life with visiting therapy dog Waffles. With the help of Jake and Cody, Angie makes a slow but long overdue recovery, and helps in the search for clues to the man who killed her friends but there is something or someone more sinister behind the kidnappings and murder of Angie’s friends, and another search of the crime scenes reveals the possibility of several more abductions or murders in the area.

THE GIRL WHO ESCAPED is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, desperation and obsession, drama and murder. The premise is dramatic, edgy and haunting but I struggled with some believability, and the amount of negligence at the hands of law enforcement and medical personnel involved in the case; the characters are animated and determined. At this point, I am going to presume THE GIRL WHO ESCAPED is the start of a new series featuring FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds as the story ends with Brenda heading to her next assignment.
