The East Lothian-based Aircraft Preservation Society of Scotland (APSS) were lucky enough to be loaned the logbooks of Vice Admiral Richard Bell Davies, VC, CB, DSO, AFC, which cover his adventures in flight up to and during the First World War.

The story hidden by these factual entries of date, aircraft type, time, distance, duration, height, wind and weather was so fascinating that Annie Rayner could do little else but work on the task. Find out more in our autumn issue.

Did you see the recent spectacular Northern Lights? Photo wanted!

We’re looking for an amazing photo to feature on the front cover of East Lothian Life Magazine - winter issue. The photo would need to be high resolution with a minimum of 300dpi (not taken from a phone) and be large enough to reproduce at A4 size.

The image we’re looking for should highlight East Lothian and the specular light show we recently saw. Image will be credited to photographer.

If you think you have something we would like, can you please send the image to [email protected]. Images to be received by Friday, 18th October.

Thank you, and please feel free to share this post.
