Newport's iconic footbridge is receiving a much-needed clean this week as a team of rope access specialists from London takes on the challenging task of cleaning the structure. The project, commissioned by Newport City Council, marks a significant step toward getting the bridge back to its former glory, which has recently drawn criticism from locals for its state of disrepair.

"We’ve brought down a skilled team from London and have also contracted some local workers to assist with the project. This combination ensures that we can complete the work efficiently and safely."

Daredevil Dolt Dashes Down Newport High Street, Dunks in the Usk
Newport High Street witnessed a disturbing incident this evening as a clueless individual wreaked havoc on an illegal 45-mile-per-hour electric scooter. Ignoring the safety of pedestrians, this bloke nearly collided with multiple groups of women before turning his attention to a group of men outside the Tiny Rebel bar.
Despite attempts to reason with him, he proceeded to remove his top in a feeble attempt at intimidation. When the police arrived, he fled the scene, only to plunge into the river moments later, getting stuck in the mud. This foolish display serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of reckless and idiotic behavior in public spaces.
As concerned bystanders urged him to move on and cease his disruptive antics, the foolish bloke inexplicably chose to further expose his lack of intellect by offering to take on all 8 men around the corner.
Witnesses described the scene as equal parts terrifying and comical, with one eyewitness exclaiming, "It was like watching a real-life Mario Kart, but without any of the charm or sense of direction!" Another onlooker likened the bloke's skill on the scooter to that of a fumbling octopus attempting salsa dancing
