Top tips on how to plan your Japa journey.

Japa is possible with the right move. With careful planning and guidance abroad is always within reach. Planning how to Japa whether by study, Residence or other legal viable pathway requires that you make hay while the sun shines.

Here are some helpful steps.

1. Count the cost. One thing you have to settle early is that Japa will cost you something. Whether it be flight ticket, visa fees or time and resources. Counting the cost early will save you from falling into the cesspit of desperation and uncertainty. If you are seeking to Japa via work visa, it makes sense to know what is the proof of fund requirements and the cost implication. Same goes for Residency and study. To think Japa is free but not cheap.

2. Don't leave it for late. Japa many atimes takes time. You can't control visa appointment. Wait times and visa processing. You also cannot determine when the government will change immigration policies. It pays to plan well in advance. Do your backgrounders early. Get info. Seek consultation early. Rally to get the information you need to get ahead. Japa is 40 percent information and 60 percent activation.

3. Gather your documents ahead in advance. Getting your documents early will save you time. Get your transcripts early. Get your degree certificates on time. Take up extra certification courses. Build your proof of funds. Do your language test, certificate evaluation and all that is needed ahead of time. It is always better to be well-prepared than underprepared. For example, Ontario government recently selected medical doctors from the EE pool with low CRS score. Australian and New Zealand Immigration have done similar moves in the past. Those that had all their documents got their PR easy. Move in the direction of your goals before the goal post changes.

4. Plan for alternatives. Have a back up plan. There are several routes to Rome. For instance if you are applying for study in Canada and you are not getting in, spread your tentacles to other countries. Alternative mapping is like casting your bread upon waters. If one ticket cut, one ticket may enter. Apply for all opportunities, whether work visa, Residence visa, Provincial Nomination, Skilled Migrant. If you seek you will find.

5. It takes a village. With the rising cost of living, you have to accept that you may not be able to achieve Japa all by yourself. Rally support. Ginger your folks and kin to back you up. Get info from those that have gone ahead of you. There are several Japa communities out there that offer backbone support to your Japa dreams whether it is by info sharing or offering guidance.

Your Japa dreams are valid. Planning well will get you there. Japa is money but more importantly it is all about strategic planning.

🚨 Do you still want to study in Canada?🚨

📢 Starting in 2025, the number of study permits will be capped at 437,000, a 10% reduction from 2024’s target of 485,000. This limit will remain steady into 2026.

📚 Master's and PhD students will now need a Provincial Attestation Letter, just like undergrad and college students.

🗣️ After completing your studies in Canada, university graduates applying for a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) after November 1st will need a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 7, while college grads will need a CLB score of 5.

💍 Plus, new rules for spouses: Your spouse can only qualify for an Open Work Permit (SOWP) if your Master’s program is at least 16 months long. That means no more SOWP for 1-year Master’s programs.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞

Making your resume stand out starts with eliminating the clutter. Here’s what you should take off:

1. ❌ Objective Statement – Replace it with a tailored summary or career profile.

2. ❌ Unnecessary Personal Information – Skip details like marital status, full address, or age.

3. ❌ Outdated Work Experience – Remove roles older than 10-15 years unless highly relevant.

4. ❌ Irrelevant Skills – Keep your skill section focused on what’s needed for your target roles.

5. ❌ "References Available Upon Request" – Employers assume you have them.

6. ❌ Short-Term Jobs or Gaps with No Explanation – Make your work history concise and strategic.

7. ❌ Old School GPA – Only include if you’re a recent graduate with impressive numbers.

We've successfully helped many clients secure their Japa admissions, but here's an important heads-up! Schools that used to accept HNDs are no longer doing so unless you're willing to go through the TOP-UP route. 😓

Please, I’m begging you – encourage your siblings and loved ones to focus on their academics and aim for a strong CGPA. A minimum of 2:1 is highly recommended! 🎓

🔴 Avoid pursuing HND or ND if you can. It’s becoming a major roadblock to opportunities abroad.

Let’s all plan ahead for the future. Aim high and make it count! 💼✈️

📚 Thinking about studying abroad? Germany and France have become top destinations for international students, and here's why you should consider them!

🇩🇪 Germany: With its robust education system and dynamic job market, Germany is more accessible than ever. The country has slashed work visa processing times from a lengthy nine months to just two weeks! Plus, the German Economic Institute (IW) reported that in 2023, Germany had around 570,000 job vacancies. This means not only are you getting a world-class education, but there are also plenty of opportunities to kick-start your career right after graduation.

🇫🇷 France: France is making waves with its new five-year post-study visa for students pursuing master’s degrees. This initiative is designed to help graduates transition smoothly into the workforce and take advantage of the diverse opportunities France has to offer. Imagine studying in the heart of Paris or another vibrant French city and then having an extended period to explore job options and build your career.
