Her first General Election!
This little monkey has been keeping me busy over the past few weeks, but I’ll be back online over the summer once the children are in camps and I’m not so distracted by this gorgeous little face! 💕
Just a reminder from you fabulous women launching a new business or idea and are feeling the Insta-fear!
It can be a bit overwhelming navigating Instagram for your new business venture but don’t worry, I’ve got your back! 💪 With the right guidance, you can master this platform, impress even your children and shine ✨
Here’s a just gentle reminder if you’ve been comparing your account to others’: The algorithm is designed to show you the best content, so it can set unrealistically high standards in your mind. You don’t know how much time they spend in the day on Instagram or how long they’ve been on the platform and behind those flawless posts and videos often lies a professional team crafting them.
Embrace the imperfection, take the leap, and just start creating your own content, it’s so much better to just go for it and learn as you go. It’s okay if it feels awkward at first – we’ve all been there!
When you’re ready to raise your Instagram game get in touch with me as I can help you with a strategy and offer you honest, friendly feedback and advice. I offer workshops or one-on-one sessions tailored just for you, much quicker and more efficient than a course!
Drop me a message to learn more! 🚀✨
As a half Aussie I am so excited to share this event with you… come and see, and even buy some fabulous Aboriginal artwork by the lovely Jackson Baker who is living/working locally for a year.
This Sunday 17th March 2.30-8.30pm…
If you’re feeling the pressure to share more reels, but you just can’t, it’s ok, you can do both and still grow! 😉
There’s no argument that Reels are helping small businesses, creatives and organisations grow their accounts, but there’s still a compelling case for sharing posts on here too…
Have a look at your professional dashboard to see what’s working, but more importantly try sharing messages in a different way to maximise your reach. Not everyone is watching Reels so I for one recommend a mixed approach with each piece of content serving a purpose.
My favourite types of posts have to be:
1. Inspiring photos (travel, interiors, fashion, lifestyle, art)
2. Storytelling (ten snippets from the week, behind the scenes, You, transformations, your journey)
3. Customer / Collaboration
4. Funny quote or meme (highly shareable!)
5. Look book (esp fashion & again interiors)
6. Educational / opinions (similar to this!)
Do share this to come back to as a reminder and let me know if you are either feeling a bit stuck with your content strategy or you need some fresh ideas you can actually implement. 🍊⚡️💥
Instagram (and business!) can be brutal can’t it!
It’s really tough to admit this, but I really messed up last year. I had been on a roll but took a few wrong turns, didn’t really keep up on my own Insta and have really paid the price this year…
I know Insta has changed, but I know that in all honesty I can’t blame the algorithm, it’s my content & strategy that needs to change! (Anyone else feeling this?!)
The good news is I have made ALL the mistakes so you hopefully don’t have to. That’s why I feel I’m your shortcut to getting ontop of your insta!
These include:
✔️Inconsistent content & frequency
✔️Not collaborating
✔️Weak hooks
✔️Loosing confidence on camera
✔️Relying on stories, as if was quick & easy but do t actually help you to grow
✔️Sharing the same old stuff and not enough storytelling
✔️Not having as much fun with it
✔️Post & running!
✔️Not having a proper funnel & newsletter
…. I could go on!
So why on earth am I sharing this? Well, I think there are too many creators & experts sharing their growth stories & successes and I hope a bit of reality might be nice change from the norm! Plus, I hope you know I get it when you are in a similar boat.
Plus, I think but putting it out there I’ll be forcing myself to do something about it!!
I want you to hold me accountable now 👊
I know it’s not a quick fix. So watch this space as I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet! 💥
It will actually be interesting to experiment more on here, follow my own advice and share what I learn with you if that’s ok? I would also LOVE to hear what kind of content you’re engaging with most, is it the tips, the stories, the comedy, ideas or all the above?
Just remember if ever you’re feeling a little overwhelmed just know, we’re all just figuring this all out! x
I’ve watched hours of videos, listened to podcasts and read a lot of blogs and articles recently and these are 5 of the most commonly mentioned tips on how small businesses can grow on Instagram in 2024.
Personally, I’m working on number 3 as a priority this year as consistency was something I really failed at last year and it killed my growth. If I could add a 6th it would be collaborations.. but don’t worry I’ll talk more on this in the coming weeks, as it’s a huge part of any social media strategy!
I’d love to hear what you’re focused on to grow this year…
It’s a notoriously tough time of year, especially on the platform!! (No, it’s not just you!)
✨Why not sprinkle a few likes and positive comments around to fellow small businesses you love today. 💕 They’ll get a little boost and you’ll hopefully see more of their content in your feed.
Keep doing what you do best, things will pick up again x
Hot topic! 🔥
One of the most frequently asked questions that I think leads nicely into the second most frequently asked question… How often should you share content!
Hopefully I’ve covered both. (Let me know if not!)
There really is no right or wrong here, you know your audience so if they’re on social media just choose the best place for you. Take into consideration the kind of content you like creating as an individual or team. If you hate video you really won’t get on with TikTok but if you love writing and are a witty sort, Twitter or Threads could be a good fit. Facebook might just be the place if it’s working for your business and you know how to use it. But, if you need more growth it might be you have to think Instagram or LinkedIn, depending on the type of business you have.
Personally I’d only jump onto more than one platform if you really have the time and resources to, as it’s not always as easy as just resharing content across. It’s no 5-minute job!
Let me know if you’re ready to ask these questions and you need some help answering them….
We all have those days when we’re stuck for ideas and don’t want to show up and be on camera. Luckily the there are lots of different content ideas that are still valuable and useful to your audience, but don’t require you to perform to camera!
I’ve spilt these into Product & Service but feel free to mix and match!
Let me know what’s your favourite type of content you enjoy sharing at the moment.
The predictions are in for Instagram in 2024..
You’ll be pleased to know that there are lots of new features coming that we haven’t yet seen in the U.K 🤯For example, has anyone got a Broadcast Channel up and running?
Expect:
✨More messaging options and spaces for break out conversations for nurturing small communities
✨Shopping in the app (TikTok are doing it well)
✨ Longer videos so it won’t be so much about short, quick transitions and clips
✨ More monetisation options for Creators. Influencers are going nowhere and so why not work with them!!
✨ Live streaming to get bigger, the desktop version is now ‘Live Producer’ so it can be more like YouTube
✨ New editing features in Reels
✨ Help discovering more brands you’re interested in and new content ideas
✨ AI features (I’m still not convinced it can write a good caption!)
✨ Spammy Mail and Bot Accounts disabled, so don’t panic if you see a drop in followers this week after a break
✨ More features in stories, I’ve noticed the views have really picked up in the last 6 months , some better than the main feed!!
One thing that won’t change, have a strategy, be yourself, don’t overthink it or be afraid to just try out ideas! The best marketing tool is YOU so get in front of the camera this year if you can, and if you need any help or a refresher I’ll offer a workshop in Feb or I have 1:1 consultations available to make sure you’re on the right track and you have a solid plan and the knowledge to approach your Social Media Marketing. Just message me!
Did you know 62.2% of Instagram users say they use it to follow brands so they can research and learn more about their products. That’s why I love using Gift Guides at key times of the year to help my clients showcase their products in an inspiring and useful way.
If you’d like to learn how to create your own branded gift guide using Canva and think about themes in the run up to Black Friday and Christmas come and join this FREE mini online workshop . I’ll share how to use Canva templates creatively and simply so you can create your own branded guides for all your marketing channels. 🍊✨💡
Just message me privately and tag anyone below who might find this useful!
Autumn Calling.. if you’re a product business or retailer it’s time to get busy! ✨🍊🎃
I can’t actually believe we’re halfway through half term.. No time to overthink things, we’re entering the busiest season of the year, are you ready?
If you’re a product/retail business we really need to start talking Black Friday and Christmas Sales. It is NOT the time to shrink away from from your marketing, if anything we need to ramp it up! If you haven’t already, this is a good week to make a plan for your upcoming promotions and events, and think about lead-in times to promote them. Can you collaborate with others? Are there any local publications you can get in touch with for some PR? Are there local groups cross promoting small businesses you can be part of?
As for our friend Instagram, I wouldn’t even worry about over sharing or overthinking things.. (the big brands don’t!!) I challenge you to show up a little more than you are currently!
If you need a content morning a planning session just message me and we can help you get things in place for the silly season 💕
✨Do you need to snap out of the Insta-Overwhelm? ✨
Instagram is such a brilliant platform full of opportunity, but it’s so easy to feel like you’re behind, not doing enough or being punished by the algorithm and therefore treading water.
It’s totally normal to feel the Insta-Overwhelm but the good news, it’s easy to snap out of it.. How?
1. Just take a moment and really think about who your ideal target audience are and what they may need from your products or services
2. Stop scrolling or looking at competitors for a moment and instead write down all your ideas and then start making a content plan
3. Next look at media and what content you want to share where. Ideally it’s your business related stuff on grid/Reels and behind the scenes and ‘other!’ In stories! Obviously there should be a strategy here but that’s the basics!
4. Start one post or reel at a time. Do what makes you feel most comfortable first and you know works, then you can start experimenting and pushing yourself a bit more out of your comfort zone.
5. It doesn’t have to be perfect or get lots of likes. Just a step at a time to get back into it! ✨🍊
John me for a coffee catch up next Tuesday in Hungerford if you can. I promise you’ll leave feeling more motivated!
Alternatively, I have my next workshop on 19th October where I’ll share all those Insta updates and help guide your strategy. Small groups so lots of opportunity for questions!
All the links are on my bio page or just say yes below and I’ll message you x

It truly feels like the end of an era… this lady was the soundtrack to my youth.
I know this isn’t a normal type of post for me, but I was genuinely touched by the news this evening of Tina Turner’s passing. Her music just reminds me so much of my younger days and my parents, my mother playing her tapes in the car on repeat then again, her songs playing through the walls when my parents had parties... Her tunes would reliably get everyone on the dance floor singing freely, and they still do!
What a woman, what a voice, (those legs!!) and most importantly her timeless energy and resilience which will continue to inspire generations. She just was ‘Simply the Best.’
Rest in peace Tina x
Hashtags 2023… are they still useful?
What do you think, let me know below!
I’ve had a few questions recently so I thought this quick guide to using hashtags would be useful.
🍊Personally I’m only adding 3-6 per post or Reel these days and I don’t waste too much time researching them, I’m just start typing them in and choose the most relevant ones for the content that appear in the suggestions.
🍊Think:
1. Location
2. Relevancy to post (think of them as keywords)
3. Community - eg women, over 50’s, industry, foodies etc etc
4. Brand / campaign: and
🍊They are completely out of your control and sometimes you get lucky and get in front of new people, sometimes they don’t. It’s not you it’s the algorithm!
🍊They key is to be specific and targeted rather than using this big broad keywords as you can pick up the wrong audience by following that path. Or getting notifications mg at all as they’re too competitive!
🍊Last point, you don’t own them is you add a brand hashtag to your post. You can’t measure which hashtag actually was the one that worked (unless you just add one and look at insights!) and lastly, don’t put any hashtags in your comments or bio, unless they’re to promote a campaign or community!
Any questions send them over!
Great news for small businesses using Instagram for their marketing.. We can now add up to FIVE URL links to our Instagram profiles!
This must have been the most requested feature on Instagram as let’s face it, Linktree wasn’t ideal (or would you still use it?). Now to think carefully about those links..
Ideas:
🍊My website
🍊Key campaign or events/booking page
🍊Newsletter subscription (ideally with incentive offer)
🍊Free offer (think pipeline)
🍊Recent Blog
If you can’t see this option yet just give it time, it will come!
If you’d like help with staying up to date with your Instagram please join one of my events this month (swipe to the end for details).

There are still a few tickets left, book online through the link in my profile and choose ‘workshops’ 🍊
Look forward to seeing you there!
I’ve been in a learning zone recently, but shockingly, I realised almost everything I’m reading is online and I haven’t actually read a real book in a while..😱
I used to munch through a book each week but I’ve found that over the last few years my screen time has gone 🆙 and my book reading time has gone ⬇️…
We are all encouraging our children to read real-life books today but its made me think… maybe it’s time to reverse that..
So I’m starting with is this book about change & shedding self doubt.. I bought it a while ago but mows the time I think.. ! It’s called ‘Passion for Purpose’ by Amy McLaren and it’s not a help book but about how to make positive change and she’d self doubt!
It’s proving more useful than a inspirational quote … I’ll keep you posted! (Ironic!)
What are you reading right now? And also, what can you recommend for me next.. I like anything around business, marketing and my new favourite genre.. mountaineering (as I’d never do it but am totally fascinated by Everest) 🗻

Instagram photos are back.. is that it for video?
New newsletter is out with tips on how to understand the algorithm so sign up to read... - https://mailchi.mp/a8f89e67c287/instagram-photos-are-back-is-that-it-for-video
Hello Monday! Here’s a roundup of what’s being going on on the platform recently plus a few ‘hidden gems’ of my own that I’ve been finding useful.
1. News that you can pay for a verification and customer service as a bundle has been causing a stir. It’s being tested in Australia/NZ at the moment but it could be something small businesses might like to invest in to avoid customers being tricked by clone accounts? At $14.99/month - would you?
2. Photos are back! Yes the algorithm has them on a more equal footing to Reels. This does not mean the end of Reels, but hopefully just the realisation we like our pretty pictures too!
3. Create a Reel as a response to a comment. I’ve seen this all over TikTok and actually love this feature in Insta as it’s a great way to come up with new content ideas and engage your audience.
4. Ever been caught out sharing a Reel without a cover? No more…
5. New Notes feature in your messages. Endless opportunities to send a quick update, promotion, prompt or question to your followers. Live for 24 hrs.
6. Have you ever had your account hacked? It’s the worst. Keep your account safe by adding two-factor authentication and go through the security prompts in settings to stay as safe as you can.
Have a brilliant week.. no workshops this week but do take a look at my website as I have updated lots of Instagram training events for March-May!
Learning from other people is so much more fun! Like if you agree 💕
Thank you Jodie for showing me around TikTok today… it’s interesting to see how different the platforms are, especially for businesses (I’ll share more on this!). But also how damn addictive TikTok is, turn those screen time settings on!!
I don’t know if I’m totally convinced it’s for me, but I’m testing it out as ii appreciate it’s still important to know what’s going on and how businesses might want to use the platform.
We have just finished our workshop for a private event in a few weeks but if you want an intro to Instagram and TikTok (for personal reasons or business) I have an online workshop on 19th April (on my website).
I really need to do more of this type of collaborations in 2023! ✨
Hello! How was half term for those of you affected?
I actually managed to tick a few jobs off my to-do list including moving my newsletter to MailChimp and sending the first newsletter to by subscribers (thank you!). In my old role I actually had someone managing this so it’s all new territory for me.
The next task is to build my E-newsletter list, so I’ve been researching trusted ways to do this:
1. Determine your target audience: Decide who you want to reach with your e-newsletter. This could be your customers, followers, or subscribers. For me it’s you lot!
2. Create an opt-in form: Create a simple, clear, and visible opt-in form on your website or blog. The form should ask for basic information like name and email address. ✅
3. Offer an incentive to encourage people to sign up for your e-newsletter. This could be a discount, a free e-book, or access to exclusive content. (To do!)
4. Promote your e-newsletter on your social media channels, blog, and website. ✅
You can also run ads to reach a wider audience.
5. Leverage your network: Ask your friends, family, and colleagues to share your e-newsletter with their networks. You can also collaborate with other businesses or organizations to promote each other's e-newsletters. (To do)
6. Use a landing page: Create a landing page dedicated to your e-newsletter. This can help increase conversions and make it easier for people to sign up. ✅
7. Segment your list: As you collect more email addresses, segment your list into different groups based on interests, demographics, or behaviors. This can help you create more targeted content and improve your open and click-through rates.
You can do this in Mailchimp but it does cost extra. (In the future)
Building an e-newsletter list will take time and effort, but i think it’ll be worth it as it can be a powerful tool for building relationships with your audience and growing your business. It’s also a great workaround for those frustrated with their audience not seeing their social media posts.
What’s your experience with newsletters and do you have any tips for growing your subscribers?
At the end of half term, are you feeling frazzled or refreshed?
Save this to read on Monday and let me know your thoughts and how much time Instagram eats into your day. Is it sustainable?
Hope you have a great weekend… I’ll be completely OFF Insta! 💕🍊
Happy Valentine’s- my gift to you 💕🍊
You wanted more Instagram workshop dates, you wanted a few new workshops and you wanted a couple of Zooms… so here you go… all my events until the end of April. If I’ve missed anything you wanted or you can’t fit these into your busy diaries, message me and I’ll look at what I can do in May! 😉
As you may have spotted last week, I have been working on a new ‘Intro to Instagram & TikTok workshop’ (online) as I thought it would be super useful for anyone starting their business or actually just wanting to better understand these platforms from a parenting point of view. We’ll look at terminology, content and settings so you can talk a little more openly and with more confidence about these platforms. What do you think?
I’ll also be running a Reels workshop south of Wi******er at the beautiful next month. Hopefully a little easier for some of you to get to.
Let me know if you have any questions, all the details are online, there is a new easy link from my bio to these pages (I’m trying out Linktree again!).
Please tag anyone who might be keen and share with your biz friends to spread the word. I’d be so grateful x
Have you experienced a drop-off in your Reel views? It’s not you, it’s not the time of year or the weather.. it is a thing across Instagram. The good news is it is probably temporary and as ever there are other opportunities and little things you can do to help….
👀Read my thoughts and experiences on this and let me know how you’re finding it right now….

Do you have a LinkedIn page setup? When was the last time you shared content on it or reached out to connect with someone? Beth @sociallyoxford is a fellow marketeer and made the switch from Instagram to LinkedIn over 18 months ago and hasn’t looked back. Not only has it enabled her to lean into her content strengths, it has helped her connect with higher value clients to support her business growth. And she doesn’t have to create trending Reels, have a huge following or live her life on the screen. This is a revelation and might be just the right move for those of you who would like to connect with professionals, are B2B , or would like to build your personal brand, and are finding it challenging on Instagram. Killer stat : Reach from Lives like this is 12x on LinkedIn! What are we doing here 😂😂 Don’t worry Instagram, I still love you, however, I’m definitely going to book a 1:1 with Beth to sharpen up my LinkedIn as for my business it’s a bit of a no brainer. If you’re feeling the half-term overwhelm, I hear you! Is it just me or is it particularly tough to show up at this time of year? I don’t know if it’s the weather, the pasty skin or the fact that Instagram just seems incredibly tough to get traction on this year, it’s not just you feeling that! ❓So what can we do? Take a step back from the noise and appreciate where you are, how far you’ve come and WHY you are doing what you do. Not all of us need thousands of followers or views, but what you do need is a strategy. And I promise you this doesn’t have to be overly complicated once your break it down. I think one of the BIGGEST issues on this platform is we are all seeing people in our industries smashing it daily. We then set unrealistic goals (mostly around views and followers) which leads to us feeling crap when Instagram isn’t delivering the results. Sound familiar? Before you go any further, maybe ask these questions: ❓WHY did you start your business in the first place? Was Instagram at the heart of it? ❓if you had the opportunity to talk in front of 500 people in a room about your business, wouldn’t you feel really proof of yourself? Why do we beat ourselves up so much when we only get a few hundred views? Maybe tweak your goals ❓Are you really focused on nurturing your existing audience? Have you been answering questions, responding to DM’s and engaging - that’s the biggest opportunity. ❓What can you do to make what you do a little better, do you look at your Analytics? ❓If you really want to pull that Instagram lever, are you ready to invest in it (time) and can you sustain it, can you monetise it? I’m working with a few retailers and service providers at the moment as they are ready to pull a few levers. I can’t sadly take any more clients on until after summer, but I can offer 2-hour consultations to help you formulate your strategy and offer support. Just get in touch if that’s you. ✨ #socialmarmalade #sm
Let’s face it, Instagram doesn’t need me right now! It’s way too saturated with festive finds and fun! This is such a busy time of year on the ‘gram I tend to use it for sharing stories (fun bits mostly!) and of course I’m on my client campaigns, as it is the season for them! 🎁✨🎄 Behind the scenes I’m doing a lot of prep work for 2024 which I can highly recommend if you can squeeze in the time. At the bare minimum DO take a look at your Professional Dashboard and take a look at the performance of your content and your audience stats. You can select the dates to go back 12 months! ❓Can you see patterns, look at Engagement and Reach ❓Is it time to mix it up and experiment a little more ❓Should you show up more ❓Does your actual audience match your target audience ❓What time are your audience active ❓Do Reels perform better than posts or should you do both ❓What are your goals for 2024 💥Now is a brilliant time to test new content! Go on, try it! What are you up to behind the scenes or are you leaning into the holidays now? Don’t worry if so, we can come back to this again in January! I’ll be bringing back planning session for any of you looking for a little guidance on your social media strategy for 2024.. keep an eye out for dates very 🔜 ✨👌💥 #socialmarmalade #smallbusinessmarketingconsultant #smallbusinessmotivation #marketingstrategytips #behindthescenesvideo #lifeasafreelancer #marketingfreelancer
The reality for working for yourself is it can get lonely/uninspiring at times! The only solution I find is to get out and set up the laptop somewhere comfortable to feel inspired again. I find that I’m way more productive, happier and even met some friends ✨ So I’m ending my day here feeling festive, jobs done and I’m full of new creative ideas. It beats procrastinating and being distracted by the washing/mess at home! (Anyone else?!) I’m really up for some changes next year and I was thinking regular laptop working sessions for local marketeers to work side by side would be quite a fun idea. Anyone keen (even if marketing is just one of many hats, you count!) ? This is the content your audience want to see more from small businesses! Here’s your content strategy…. I have been working with small brands for over 5 years now and I’ve definitely found there’s been a big shift towards keeping content buckets tighter around the business and sharing more this kind of content vs the highly curated images. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still got to look good, but it’s more about the people, the behind the scenes , the stories, sharing ideas and tips and showcasing your expertise. And of course the customers experiences count for a hell of a lot too. Today, I’ve been catching up on the new @sproutsocial report which supports what I’ve been advising clients. 🍊Highlights: The main reason people follow a brand on socials is to : 1. Stay informed about new products and services 2. Access to exclusive deals 3. Content is enjoyable to watch 🍊And what people would like to see more from brands: 1. Authentic non promoted content 2. Transparency on values and business practices 3. Info on how products sourced or made 4. Educational content related to brand’s industry 5. UGC and testimonials There’s your high level content strategy.. 👍 The next step is implementing it for your business and creating the right content in the right places.. that’s where I can help! My 1:1’s are the perfect opportunity to sit down, plan out your content strategy and get you on the right track for 2023/24! I have availability in October / November if this sounds like something you need. ✨⚡️ #socialmarmalade #contentstrategytips #contentstrategymarketing #smallbusinessowners #smallbusinessmarketingtips #berkshirebusiness #hampshirebusiness

Anyone else battling the Monday Blues? What a Jubilee that was! It was definitely a fitting celebration for Her Majesty The Queen to celebrate 70 wonderful years. This has to be my favourite moment - I too like to have a little Marmalade on hand at all times! 🍊❤️ Back to reality now… *sigh* have you got any pick me up ideas? #socialmarmalade #platinumjubilee2022 #marmalade #queenjubilee #smallbusinesslife
Do you enjoy the benefits of flexible working? Does it make me unproductive to work in this way? No! I can do everything here that I can in an office and it’s a only a few minutes to set up and I can crack on! There are a lot of conversations happening around the topic of flexible working, @pregnant_then_screwed @mother_pukka are leading the way. Personally, I know I’m incredibly lucky to have space and clients I can work with in a completely flexible way. It’s all about quality output not time on a seat. It wasn’t initially obvious that this would be my path if I’m honest. When I moved out to Hampshire I had high hopes of keeping my career alight, but the reality made it impossible without full time extra childcare. Would I have made enough to cover that 🤷♀️ It’s really very hard to find a balance and I just hope the conversation keeps moving forward. I am so motivated in my role as I desperately want to help people find success on their own terms, with their own businesses as there are so few flexible options available. I know many of you have set up your own businesses to make it work for your family life, was this out of necessity or choice? Do you enjoy the benefits of working flexibly? #socialmarmalade #flexibleworking #workingmumlife #hampshirebusiness #flexappeal

New online lifestyle magazine @luxeinthecountry has launched! Yesterday I had the great pleasure of joining Georgie & Sophie who are the faces behind @luxeinthecountry and we headed to the wonderful @jaxjeans in Hungerford to get lots of video content for their socials. It can be really tricky to do your own videos, especially at first, as let’s face it, not everyone likes jumping in front of the camera (me included!). My role yesterday was to not only film but more importantly support and encourage the team to feel more confident with creating videos and make it fun. 🍊Top top: They don’t have to be perfect and it will take practice! Just be clear WHO you’re talking to and ensure the content is of value 👍🏻Video content is really worth the investment and will really help with building trust, offering value and showing more of your brand personality. You can share it on reels, stories, posts and Facebook ✨Sharing videos consistently will help you reach more people 🙌And if you can collaborate with businesses and brands with a similar target audience - that’s a winning content strategy! We focused mostly on stories and IG video (2-5 mins) rather than reel transitions, but they’ll have some content to create a reel too. In a 3 hr morning session they now have video content for 3-4 features plus some stories, 1 reel and some supporting images for covers etc. I’ve provided the content and in this case, they’ll do the editing. I’m not a video pro, but I do think that for social media it’s good enough! 🍊❤️And some amazing feedback is always a lovely way to finish the day: ‘Thank you so so much for this morning. Quite frankly couldn’t have done it without you!! I felt absolute terrified when you clicked your video on but you were so reassuring and organised that it whizzed by and I think looks great! Thank you, thank you 😘😘😘’ If you need some Insta video coaching, filming or training in 2022 get in touch, it’
⚡️Instagram IGTV is no more!⚡️ Instagram has instead launched Instagram Video - a new tab where all your video content (excluding Reels & Stories) can be found. Why? IGTV wasn’t a huge hit and proved confusing as a separate brand/app. What’s new? 🍊Basically any video content posted to your profile will now be searchable in your Instagram Video tab (look for the ▶️icon under your highlights). 🍊You can post videos up to 60 mins in length. The first 60s will be shown as a preview to your audience mitosis They tap to see the full screen 🍊Videos include posts with animated stickers 🍊It’s a good idea to add a cover that’s optimised for the square - just like Reels. Use a story template in Canva but add a strong hook in the square that’s on brand so your videos are easily navigable 🍊Remember to turn captions on in the ‘advanced options’ 🍊You can add products tags, location tags and people tags/collabs Instagram are developing the video features in the app to encourage MORE video. I am finding it a little glitchy- eg I could attribute this to a series earlier today, captions don’t work, the cover is off (even after editing). But I think these will be ironed out. Enjoy this video and if you need help with your video content strategy do get in touch. I’d love your feedback and thoughts below ⬇️ #socialmediatips #socialmediastrategy #videocontentmarketing #instagramtipsforbusiness #instagramforsmallbusiness #instagramupdates

This should be the best time of year, sunshine and spring floral displays! We might not have had the sunshine this morning, but I did get to enjoy the sight of this stunning wisteria as I entered the beautiful home of @michellebrowninteriors 🌸. Michelle suggested I get a picture before the storm arrives this afternoon. Who else is enjoying this beautiful weather this week? ☀️ I’m still in the thick of the mummy juggle but I thought I’d set myself up outside to watch the kids whilst I finish off writing a training session I’m running on Friday. Are people really interested in seeing behind the scenes of your business? In short - YES!✨ One of the reasons Big Brother (TV show!) was such a hit is we got to see the nitty gritty behind the scenes and get to know the contestants better, not just the glossy edited versions. I think the same goes for social media. Yes you need to work on ensuring you grid is on brand and communicates your messages/values etc But people are also really are interested in seeing more behind the scenes of a business and get to know the people, see the office space etc It’s an incredibly powerful way to build trust and tell your story. You can do this a few ways: 🍊 Video- I love the time lapse feature in my phone, but you can also just film snippets from your day or morning routine and edit and upload as a short video (under 1 min) or as a IGTV if over 1 min. I used InShot app to cut and edit 🍊Stories - for quick 15s videos and images. Such a great option for mixing up content - take images, talk to camera, upload a short time-lapse to music, a boomerang? Do this regularly! 🍊Reels - similarly to stories your reels can be used to share behind the scenes in a more concise way. Again edit your video to 15-30seconds and add captions. Great for getting reach and letting people get to see more of the real you/your business in an entertaining way. I’d share more from my day but sadly the nature of my job requires the use of my phone! Needless to say once I’ve completed my kitchen ‘workout,’ had a coffee and made my plans for the day I’m usually on Zoom with clients, lunch, creating content and it’s school pick up! I’m still working out how to fit a proper workout into my routine - any tips?! (That’s a great idea for a live @accomplishfitness 🙌) Let me know how you feel about sharing more behind the scenes...And no, it’s not boring! ✨ #socialmarmalade #behindthescenes #lifebehindthescenes #morningroutine #mymorningroutine #smallbusinessuk #smallbusi
I remember once being told ‘You don’t sell in Instagram!’ Well let me tell you, you do now! There are 8 ways for you to make it really easy for your customers to buy your products.. If you are a small business and you want to sell on Instagram I strongly advise you to get your shops set up and working. I know many of you are having difficulties with the your existing shops now the new Facebook Shop has launched but don’t put that job on the ‘tomorrow’ pile. Speak to Shopify/Wooho or raise a ticket with Facebook to fix any issues as you need this to work for your business. It’s only going to get bigger, especially when the new checkout function arrives! If you like the video please like or send me a comment. “To help small businesses make sticky impressions with a confident social media strategy”
Hi, I am Charlotte and I set up Social Marmalade as I wanted to work with small business owners and help them better use social media to market their products and services as it presents a really fantastic opportunity. I have a background in travel having worked across commercial roles in product, sales and marketing as well as having qualified as a social media consultant with Digital Mums so feel I have a good understanding of both marketing and running a business.
It is my goal to give businesses owners the skills, knowledge and confidence to nail their social media in order to grow their business. I offer a friendly tailored range of services, but most importantly always support small local businesses with ongoing tips, advice, collaborations, workshops and events.
Everyone knows they should be 'doing' social media, however, it can be difficult to know where to start and which platform is right for your business. That is where I can help! Want to ask more - just email me [email protected]
