F&G stands for ‘folded & gathered’ and is a term used in publishing to refer to printed pages of a book that haven’t yet been bound, used for quality checks and helping us to visualise what a book will look like when the printing process is complete.

We are delighted to announce a major collaboration with for a brand new title, We Feed The UK, coming out Summer 2025.

We Feed The UK brings together over 40 collaborators from the environment and arts sectors to share time-critical stories across urban, rural, and coastal areas. These include multi-generational, Black-led growing projects in London, a majority-women workers cooperative in Edinburgh, and sustainable fishing along the south coast. Their encounters are diverse, moving, and unexpected: ten powerful stories sowing seeds for a future where regenerative practices are the roots of our future resilience.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with such esteemed partners on such an important project, and can’t wait to start sharing more with you soon.

Standing on the foothills of Blencathra, one of the most northerly of the Cumbrian mountains, with my author Michael Hambrey. He lives just a few meters further down, and gave us a wonderful tour of the land he recently gifted to Friends of the Lake District. This was the morning after Michael’s special talk and the launch of ‘Our Frozen Planet’ at the Keswick Museum.

What a fabulous evening at yesterday - our author was in conversation with .sheldrake and they discussed the intricacies of plants and fungi to a sold-out audience, before signing copies of their books. This marked the end of a fabulous series of talks to celebrate 10 years of this remarkable venue. I was delighted to get my book signed by Melvin who was charming, and reminded me of funghi’s version of Prof Brian Cox, with his boyish enthusiasm and infectious curiosity for his own invisible world of mycelial networks. I’m proud to have supported this evening as Rob’s publisher, to have our book Seeds on display, and see so many positive reactions to it.

I’ve just been given this wonderful book “Bookshops of London”, published in 1981. It lists my father’s two bookshops on Holland Street, W8, London, just before he opened a third at the Royal College of Art. We lived above the Academy Bookshop, and as you can see by the last photos, I spent quite a bit of time in there from a young age! It was running the Academy Bookshop that led my father to start his publishing business Academy Editions.

The area of Holland Street was synonymous with artists, fashion designers and musicians throughout the mid-‘60s, ‘70s and into the ‘80s. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin opened The Equinox directly opposite the Academy Bookshop and sold books on the occult.

📘FOOD PLANET FUTURE has been shortlisted in two categories: Food Security, and Climate and Food
📗SEEDS has been shortlisted for Best Design

🏆The “Best in the World” will be announced at the World Cookbook Fair - Gourmand International - Gourmand Awards awards ceremony in June 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal.

FOOD PLANET FUTURE is an extraordinary visual tour of everyday foods, and the knowledge and techniques that could help to reverse climate change threats and biodiversity loss. It was written by the science educator and artist Robert Dash Photography.

SEEDS is a fascinating close-up look into seeds from the collection of Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank, presenting a natural history of seeds like no other. It is the work of a scientist Wolfgang Stuppy and an artist Rob Kesseler. The book was recently translated into German by DK Books under the title SAMEN - Zeitkapseln des Lebens.

Both books were recently published by Papadakis, and are the result of many years of dedication hard work by our authors and our publishing team.

We’ve come to the end of a wonderful month of Seed Gathering Season, with some fantastic collaborations with The Tree Council. We’re looking forward to finding out the winners of the giveaway and who will be receiving their prize copies of Seeds – Time Capsules of Life

As comes to a close, we want to thank everyone who participated and explored the beauty of seeds, and those who celebrated their role in preserving biodiversity. A special thank you to The Tree Council for this wonderful partnership. Together, we’ve made an impact in raising awareness of seed conservation, while spreading the message of sustainability and the vital importance of seeds.

Delighted to see the beautiful catalogue "Wunder Der Natur" from Gasometer Oberhausen in Cologne, where the exhibition will be on show until 30th November.
