We've filmed a LOT of special guest lectures in our time, but this one was by far one of the best. What an absolutely engaging, honest and knowledgeable lady , Chair of the FA is. It was a privilege to listen to her this evening.

One of the most satisfying parts of any edit is the colour treatment at the end.

Once the narrative is nailed, the music and covering shots are laid, and it's time for the final touches; treating the raw footage to bring out the colours, the contrasts and compliment the environment and subject matter are sometimes a bit of a trial and error process but toggling the treatment on and off to see the before and after is always a good way of knowing you've got it right😉

Back to editing our student profile case studies today. Last week's one is done and in the bag, so we're on to number two.

Part two of our editing process, once the interview is cut down and we've got our narrative nailed, is picking and laying the perfect music track! This needs to reflect the subject-matter well and add pace and excitement without drawing attention away from the story we're telling.

Once we've chosen the perfect track, we lay it underneath our interview/voiceover and, using the audio waveforms, we keyframe the volume level (circled in the pic below) to have it higher for the intro, lower when any speech is happening and back up for regular breaks in the narrative to keep the pace and interest high. Sometimes a little trickery is needed so that the "sting" moments in our narrative match the hits in the music for maximum impact!😉

So into the edit suite today, after a day of motion graphics yesterday, to start putting together the Student Profiles we filmed on Monday.

First part of the job when the narrative is being taken from interviews is to go through the whole interview again and remove all the questions, the pauses, false starts and mistakes. Then a second pass to go through it again to start building the story for the film and remove any repetition. Finally, one to two more passes to refine the structure, make sure the story flows well and has a strong in and even stronger out. This one started out as a 25 min interview, brought down to 7 minutes after the first cut, 2.5 mins after the second, and finalised on the third pass at 1min 50 seconds.

Now the fun bit begins! 😁

Been craving chocolate all day today! Our client wanted some mouth watering socials creating for their chocolate brand. They didn't want new content filming so we re-purposed stock footage to match their chocolate perfectly... YUM! 🤤

Our lovely clients at Aarsleff Ground Engineering UK wanted something eye-catching to explain and promote their new Vision and Values Manifesto "Step into the Blue". Using their amazing archive of footage, we brought the manifesto to life with slick and stylish motion-graphics to create a memorable induction and promotional film for their staff and customers.
