Another Small Press An independent publisher of indie writers

19/10/2024

I mean it would be disingenuous of me to feign surprise at our recent visitor to Letsxcape together - bookseller and founder of A Fine & Tiny Bookshop, as well as publisher and founder of Another Small Press, writer of the small but beautifully formed collection of short stories 'All The Things I Wrote Before I Wrote The Thing I Always Wanted To Write', new chair of Fosseway Writers Group, director at The Urban Worm CIC, chief fermenter at the Microbe Brewery and, in his spare time, full-time postman. It's Martin Costello, a man of letters (and parcels), having a bit of time-out between jobs.

Last Sunday Letsxcape together saw the official launch of Adrian Bean's biographical novel 'What Happened', published by Another Small Press. Complimentary wine, a couple of readings by Adrian from the book, a Q&A with Ade, Martin Costello from ASP & Dan Ellin of the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln, concluding with a good social natter and some book signings. It was a really nice way to spend a literary afternoon - we should do this again...
..and we will. Watch this space for announcements.

ASP author Adrian Bean’s L For Lanc getting great reviews

A fantastic review of my book ‘L For Lanc’ by Dan Ellin from the Bomber Command Digital Archive at the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln. Thanks Dan!

L for Lanc is a collection of cleverly interconnected character based short stories found by Ade Bean in a collection belonging to a WAAF who served on an operational bomber station during the war.
The stories are in the style of some of the published wartime propaganda but these stories acknowledge the horror of war; the characters have doubts about the bombing campaign that chime with a more nuanced understanding of what Lancasters were designed and built to do.
It is clear that life on and around the station has been beautifully well observed. You get to know each character, and each story has a ring of reality. The stories are quite dark, and the insights into each character really make you think. A wizard read.
