Taking a month off teaching piano in August to work on my album.
Misinjin is a music entity in its formative stages at the moment - my last album with Hookstick revolved around known genres and sounds - which I really enjoyed, all very familiar, but I'm now bringing together all my thoughts of the last few years to try and write stuff which is more about what I'm actually feeling, here, in this place. A lot of grit and unexpected twists. It's psychedelic, in the sense that I think that's how my brain works anyway, and a bit on the absurd side, so a few cheeky laughs (all coping mechanisms, I would call them!)
Lots of messages, but keeping away from too much emotional self-indulgence. I hope it's a good strong look at some things that matter.

Been lucky that I can use AI voices to visualise these tracks whilst I plan out the funding and the eternal quest for a significant singer. Having said that, I think there's a great one on my doorstep, just have to get the modus operandi straight.

So another month just to get my students on the right path (whichever one that is for them!) and then a month of hedonism and free thinking. It's definitely it's own thing and every time someone says there's a bit they don't like, I vamp it up

Another two days putting down vocals for my songs. It's just been so rewarding and an amazing experience to leap forward in my album - really helps with confidence in the end product - vocals are so important! They're not, of course, the finished vocals, but they making the feel of the songs come alive, which helps with all the other stuff!

Okay , I am now undertaking a track voicing project and have around 18 tracks to re-voice. It's quite a tricky but will help a new singer, when finished. Going to be a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! Some tracks from new Misinjin psychedelic work and some from Henry's Machine or later soul based ideas. And one crazy track I wrote in Spain called "Mrs Happy Bang Bang" after a lovely neighbour!
Am having lots of fun!

Great news! We are starting work with an established vocal artist in South Africa in conjunction with our well known crew to develop new tracks for release over there (and also here!)
It's a new thing to be working at creating songs to topic and effectively getting commissioned! Sounds like the birth of a new way of work - always exciting!
