As ever, I'm a few days late with my yearly round up video. But here it is, 2024 with a Triumph Bonneville T120 and a Royal Enfield Classic 350.

Despite what seemed like almost continuous rain for the whole of the year, I still managed to dig out a few opportunities for motorcycle camping adventures, made some review videos and acquired a second channel bike.

Also this year was a test for how viable it would be to go full time with the channel and website, and the good news is is that I think I can, so I will.

There's lots of plans for 2025, so I hope you'll stick around and follow along to see how Classic Rides develops (there'll also be a few moto camping videos along the way too!).

To kick off Motorcycle Live 2024, Royal Enfield hosted an owners only preview of the new Classic 650 and Bear 650. Since I've been waiting on the Classic 650 to arrive for a few years, I thought it'd be rude not to attend.

Not an in-depth review of the whole event, I had my own agenda for visiting the show. But I took the opportunity to take a good look at the new Royal Enfield twins and to have a quick gander at some of the other manufacturer stands.

Sorry for the unusual video this time, more of a typical Moto-Vlog for this one as carrying around a heavy filming equipment all day wasn't on the cards (my elbow is still giving me grief). Hopefully I'll be back to normal videos soon 🤞🏻

I hear a lot of folk say they wouldn’t want a bike with a lot of chrome/shiny parts because of the cleaning needed.
Personally I enjoying taking my time to look after a bike, spending time cleaning gives you a chance to look closely at all the design work that went into it, it’s something to be appreciated.

I've been wanting to try 'hot tenting' for a while, and with the weather still mild enough for it to not matter if my camping experiments go wrong; I packed up my new tent stove and set off on Donkey the Classic 350 to a campsite in Derbyshire. Along the way I tried the Royal Enfield out on some very easy off road routes and I'm happy to say he performed extremely well.

With the colder months approaching, I loaded up the Royal Enfield Classic 350 with some new moto camping gear and headed out into the wilds of the Derbyshire...

Every time I park this thing up I get comments from all ages and sexes about how nice it looks. Some designs are timeless and I feel as though a lot of modern motorcycle design is an exercise in trying fix something that’s not broke, simply for the sake of putting something ‘new’ on the market. It’s not needed, because class doesn’t change.

It was a sunny but cold day, heralding the imminent arrival of Autumn. But these days any rain free day is an opportunity not to be missed, so I loaded up my camera gear onto Donkey the 350 Classic, and headed north into the wilds of Yorkshire.

Aysgarth Falls has been on hit list for quite a while. A filming location for one of my all time favourite movies, the falls saw Kevin Costner's Robin Hood meet Nick Brimble's Little John in the hit 1991 film. Looking just as epic as it did 33 years ago, the falls are not to be missed if you're in the area.

If you haven't had your medieval fill after the Falls, a short ride away is the remains of Bolton Castle. A great way to spend an hour or two on a tour of Yorkshire, the castle offers a gateway into the past, you can even visit the bedroom of Mary Queen of Scots.

Controversial opinion but I think Autumn is the best season for camping. Summer is often too bright and too hot to be in a tent. Autumn though, couldn’t be cosier 🍁🍂🍁

Somehow packing the car full of bags doesn’t quite give me the same sense of expectant adventure as seeing my bike fully loaded.
