Self Defence and The Law
For anyone who's victim of crime, or who has been, there is a lack of information about what you can and cannot do in such a situation. Self defence would be one of those. Are you allowed to defend yourself in such a situation and how does the UK Law see such a situation. The following article should offer some insight into how this is dealt with and how they ensure those who are innocent are not prosecuted for such actions.

Self-Defence and the Prevention of Crime by The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
A useful article for those wanted to know the UK law on self defence. It states: "it is important to ensure that all those acting reasonably and in good faith to defend themselves, their family, their property or in the prevention of crime or the apprehension of offenders are not prosecuted for such action."

"Self defence and the prevention of crime originates from a number of different sources. Defence of the person is governed by the common law. Defence of property however, is governed by the Criminal Damage Act 1971. Arrest and the prevention of crime are governed by the Criminal Law Act 1967."
