🚧 The A249 main carriageway will be closed for the duration at Grovehurst (B2005). 🚧
To allow for bridge installation works at the Grovehurst junction, the A249 main carriageway will be closed. The diversion route will use the exit and entry slips in both directions at the junction. This can be expected to cause heavy delays, both towards and leaving the Isle of Sheppey.

Upcoming closures on the A249
To complete the final preparation works necessary to open the Stockbury flyover, we have some overnight closures of the A249 coming up in July:
Friday 5, Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 July: the A249 northbound between the Stockbury and Key Street Roundabouts will be closed from 8pm to 5am each night while we prepare for the opening of the Stockbury flyover later in July.
During the closure, a diversion will be in place via the M2, Hoath Way, A2, Sheppey Way and A249. Non-motorway traffic please use the A249, A229, A2, Sheppey Way and A249.
Tuesday 9 July: the A249 southbound (towards Maidstone) from the Stockbury Roundabout to Church Hill will be closed from 8pm Tuesday 9 July to 5am Wednesday 10 July.
During the closure, a diversion will be in place via the M2, A229 Bluebell Hill, M20 and A249. Non-motorway traffic will need to use A249, A2, A229 and A249.
Wednesday 10 July: the A249 southbound (towards Maidstone) from the Bobbing Roundabout to the Stockbury roundabout will be closed from 8pm Wednesday 10 July to 5am Thursday 11 July.
During the closure, a diversion will be in place via Sheppey Way, A2, Hoath Way, M2, A229, M20, A249. Non-motorway traffic please use Sheppey Way, A2, A229, A249.
On Thursday morning, a lane will be open on the Stockbury flyover for southbound traffic.
Thursday 11 July: the A249 northbound (towards Sittingbourne) will be closed between Church Hill and the Stockbury Roundabout from 8pm Thursday 11 July to 5am Friday 12 July.
During the closure, a diversion will be in place via the M20, A229 Bluebell Hill, M2, A249. Non motorway traffic please use A249, A229, A2, Sheppey Way, A249.
There will be closure signage on the A249 at the M20 junction 7, advising of the diversion route. Residents on the A249 itself and surrounding villages, please join the A249 as normal.
On Friday morning, a lane will be open on the Stockbury flyover for northbound traffic.
