Making video content can be overwhelming.
What to say, what to film, and how to put it all together, and then there's the editing.
This is an older post, but still very relevant!
Try out these fundamental editing transitions to bring your videos to life.
(Useful if you're someone who is trying to do it all yourself 😀)
Standard Cut: An end of one scene and the start of another.
Jump Cut: Frames are taken out of sequence to create a jump.
Cross Dissolve: Gradual transitions to signify the passing of time.
Cutting on Action: Cuts on action or with music, such as someone moving, turning their head, jumping, running, etc.
Fade In/Out: From one clip and fade out the other.
Incorporating these editing transitions will make your content more engaging.
Even if you don't have all the details, work with your video company to see if they can help you bring your visualisation to life. Without you, there is no us.
A huge thanks to our Founder, Andrew, and his kids for giving their dad a hand on this ❤️

The secret ingredient often overlooked is a thorough recce.
Don't forget the importance of a recce before your video shoot!
It lets us familiarise ourselves with the location and plan for potential obstacles or challenges.
It's our opportunity to step into the scene before the cameras roll.
A recce ensures we've got everything in place for a successful shoot.
This isn't just preparation; it's setting the stage for success.
Don't worry if you're navigating this process for the first time.
Collaborate with your video production team.
They're there to transform your vision into a visual masterpiece.

Experiencing interview anxiety, like you're one second away from making a run for it? 😳
Fear not. We’ve discovered a highly effective technique! 😎
Let us introduce you to the "Laugh and Film" approach! 😂📹
Begin with light-hearted humour, perhaps a funny story, before recording. This method significantly reduces nervousness, paving the way for genuine laughter. 😆
We've tested out this strategy, and it’s been successful with even the most reserved individuals, consistently transforming interview experiences into enjoyable moments. 🤪
So, when you feel that pre-recording tension creeping in, just employ the "Laugh and Film" strategy and anticipate a delightful change in the atmosphere! 😀

Do you get nervous on camera? I know we do.
And I know 98% of people we film do too.
Here’s what we recommend before we press record.
✅ Be prepared and know what you want to say. You can make bullet points of your discussion on camera and refer to them during your recording.
✅ Wear something comfortable. You might be standing or sitting when we film you, so make sure you feel great in your clothing—no heavy logos, pinstripes or polka dots
✅ Don’t stress about making mistakes. Remember, we can stop, start the camera, and clean up the rest when editing your footage. We’re masters at that!
✅ Sit comfortably and be yourself. Or stand tall but be relaxed. We’ll sit you on the right chair to make you feel at ease so your posture is at its best. Or get your stance camera-friendly so you look natural. Let’s face it. You don’t want to like a slouched potato on camera.
✅ Just be you. Be yourself. The saying goes, the camera never lies. So, when recording, be natural. We all tend to overdo it on camera or go camera shy. Approach your recording like you’re conversing with someone, and be you.
We’ll always make you look your best on camera, but keep these tips in mind. 😀

Did you know Andrew Tomlinson, the owner of Communicate Video Production, used to be a dancer? Yep, that's right!
His dancing days were about rhythm, timing, and expressing a story through movement. 🕺🏽
Now, running a video production company, these elements are just as essential in editing. 🎥
Every cut and transition in the editing suite feels like choreographing a dance routine.
We align the rhythm of the visuals with the beat of the narrative, creating a seamless flow that tells a story, evokes emotions, and captivates the audience.
The parallels are uncanny.
In dancing, every step and spin is crucial; in editing, every frame and effect holds a similar significance.
It's a creative process where precision meets art, and we love it! 😍
So, for us, editing isn't just a part of video production; it's continuing the dance in a new, exciting way.
Who else finds joy in the rhythm of their work?

It's not just about rolling cameras; it's about bringing a company's culture and ethos to life for new employees.
You've hired a new team member and are eager to bring them up to speed. But how do you effectively convey your company culture, job responsibilities, and the nuances of your workplace? 🤔
🎥 That's where a well-crafted induction video comes into play:
✅ Deliver company information quickly and engagingly.
✅ Include essential safety information, from site contacts to fire procedures.
Without these videos, new hires often find themselves lost in a sea of information. 😩 They may feel overwhelmed, leading to confusion and a slower start. 😭
But here's the magic of induction videos:
✅ They quickly introduce new employees to your business in a fun and engaging way.
✅ They cover crucial health and safety information, including uniforms, PPE, fire procedures, and more.
In my recent projects, I've tackled the unique challenges that different roles face with induction videos. From HR managers dealing with generic content to IT professionals struggling to simplify technical jargon, each role has its specific needs.
🎥 Our goal? To create content that is not only informative but also resonates emotionally - empowering, motivating, and connecting with new employees from day one.
If your current induction process doesn't quite capture the essence of your organisation, don't worry – it's not too late to make a change.
This video post is a behind-the-scenes glimpse of filming an induction video.
Let's create an induction video that truly reflects your company's spirit and sets up your new hires for success. 🚀

It's a project that still resonates with us.
A testament to the enduring power of visual storytelling in the industrial sector.
🤓 The Task: BHR Group, experts in fluid engineering, needed an effective way to communicate a complex technical solution to their stakeholders.
🚀 The Experience: It was a deep dive into the intricacies of hydraulic structures and physical modelling. It was a blend of technical complexity and creative challenge.
🎥 Visualising Complexity: Our goal was to visually capture the essence of water movement within their full-scale models. We highlighted the impressive dynamics of water flow through carefully chosen camera angles and lenses, making technical details captivating.
💦 Capturing Every Detail: Filming every possible flow scenario was key. From overhead to underwater shots, we ensured that viewers could grasp the full picture, highlighting the unseen aspects of water behaviour.
📹 Lasting Impact: The video we produced went beyond illustrating BHR Group's expertise; it demonstrated the enduring power of video in making complex technical concepts accessible and engaging.
Looking back, this project reinforces our passion for transforming industrial narratives into compelling video stories.
Let's connect and share insights if you're exploring how video can enhance your technical communications!
