Okatakyie Afrifa cursed John Mahama using schnapps and eggs in front of the Jubilee House during the peak of the "Galamsey Must Fall" protest.

Activist and media personality Okatakyie Afrifa has stirred controversy by publicly accusing former President John Mahama and his family of being complicit in illegal mining, known in Ghana as galamsey.

Speaking during the climax of the Galamsey Must Fall protest held in front of the Jubilee House, Afrifa didn't hold back.

He claimed that if Mahama and his family are indeed involved in the destruction of Ghana’s lands and rivers through galamsey operations, then the gods of the land should rise and bring justice upon them.

To reinforce his call for accountability, Afrifa performed a symbolic curse ritual, pouring schnapps and breaking eggs—traditional acts believed to invoke spiritual consequences for wrongdoing.

He extended his warning to other top politicians allegedly benefiting from the illegal mining trade, insisting that no one should be spared if found guilty.

Some misguided Ghanaians seriously believe that Sobolo is bulletproof. — Bongo Ideas Critiques Blind Religious Faith over Duçann Williams’ bodyguard carrying a fireàrm.

Controversial social media critic Bongo Ideas has taken a jab at what he describes as misplaced faith among some Ghanaians, using a viral image of Bishop Duçann William’s bodyguard as his point of reference.

In a recent post, Bongo reacted to a photo showing the bishop’s bodyguard dressed in a suit and armed with a firearm.

He used the image to question why many people continue to rely solely on spiritual items like anointing oils and so-called “holy sobolo” for protection, while the pastors they follow rely on physical security.

“This photo alone should be a whole sermon,” Bongo wrote. “Some Ghanaians still believe sobolo can stop bullets, yet the man of God moves with a bodyguard carrying a G***k under his suit.”

He went further to slams those who trust in anointing creams that claim to block harm:

“You’re busy rubbing church cream that says ‘no weapon shall prosper,’ but your pastor has real weapons protecting him.”

Bongo ended his post with a bold reminder: “Let’s upgrade our thinking, holy sobolo is not a bulletproof vest.”

His post has since stirred reactions across social media, sparking debate on the intersection of faith, logic, and personal responsibility. – Ka Nsemtvgh

A-Plus apologizes to AG for sounding disrespectful and using unsuitable language.

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has issued a heartfelt apology to Attorney-General and Bolgatanga East MP, Dr. Dominic Ayine, over what he described as an "inappropriate" social media post.

In a statement released today, A-Plus clarified that the controversial remarks originated from a fake account impersonating him.

He emphasized that the post did not come from any of his verified platforms.

He explained that his only involvement in the matter began in November 2024, when a man approached him for media support to clear his name in a case.

As a media personality and part-owner of a local media company, A-Plus said he offered help based on the principle that every accused person deserves a fair hearing.

Although he distanced himself from the impersonated post, A-Plus acknowledged that a Facebook response he made in reaction to Dr. Ayine’s press conference was disrespectful.

He admitted the tone and language used were inappropriate and has since deleted the post as a sign of remorse.

"I sincerely apologize to Hon. Dr. Ayine and the general public. As a colleague MP and junior in the House, I should have exercised better judgment," he stated.

The misunderstanding arose when Dr. Ayine referred to the fake account during a press briefing and called on A-Plus to clarify his position on an ongoing National Service Secretariat scandal.

A-Plus firmly denied any involvement with the NSS scandal, stating that his role was limited to assisting an individual who sought media exposure to tell his side of the story.

He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding integrity, fairness, and respect in both his public and political life.

Accra Court Remands Former NSB Boss in $7M Corruption Case.

An Accra High Court has ordered former National Signals Bureau (NSB) boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, to remain in EOCO custody for seven working days to allow the Attorney General time to finalize witness statements.

This decision follows allegations that Adu-Boahen tried to interfere with witnesses.

His lawyer’s request to include weekends in the remand was rejected, and the case has been adjourned to May 13, 2025.

Adu-Boahen, his wife Angela Adjei Boateng, and two others face charges of corruption, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state, linked to a $7 million deal with Israeli firm ISC Holdings.

Prosecutors say he diverted GHS 49 million from NSB accounts to his personal bank accounts under pretenses.
