Okatakyie Afrifa cursed John Mahama using schnapps and eggs in front of the Jubilee House during the peak of the "Galamsey Must Fall" protest.
Activist and media personality Okatakyie Afrifa has stirred controversy by publicly accusing former President John Mahama and his family of being complicit in illegal mining, known in Ghana as galamsey.
Speaking during the climax of the Galamsey Must Fall protest held in front of the Jubilee House, Afrifa didn't hold back.
He claimed that if Mahama and his family are indeed involved in the destruction of Ghana’s lands and rivers through galamsey operations, then the gods of the land should rise and bring justice upon them.
To reinforce his call for accountability, Afrifa performed a symbolic curse ritual, pouring schnapps and breaking eggs—traditional acts believed to invoke spiritual consequences for wrongdoing.
He extended his warning to other top politicians allegedly benefiting from the illegal mining trade, insisting that no one should be spared if found guilty.
Afrifa’s bold actions have reignited the national conversation around illegal mining and the role political leaders may be playing behind the scenes. – Ka Nsemtvgh
