POLICE have returned to Marble Hall Road in Milford Haven, with at least three units attending a property on Sunday afternoon (June 15).

Officers attended a neighbouring address Wednesday (June 11), when a report of threats to kill was made to Dyfed-Powys Police. However, this seems like a separate incident.

In a previous statement, on Wednesday police said: โ€œOfficers are investigating a report of threats to kill made at a property on Marble Hall Road, Milford Haven, on Wednesday 11 June. Enquiries are ongoing.โ€

The Herald understands that incident may relate to a financial dispute involving a significant amount of money, but this has not been confirmed officially.

Regards today's police attendance is understood to be connected to an alleged domestic incident.

No arrests have been confirmed for either call out and Dyfed-Powys Police have been contacted for an updated statement on Sundayโ€™s activity.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police via 101 or their website.

Pembrokeshire Council invites public to have their say on 20mph zones

PEMBROKESHIRE Council is calling on residents to share their views on potential changes to 20mph zones across the county.

The consultation, launched at the start of May, invites the public to give feedback on whether any roads should be removed from the new 20mph default speed limit or whether additional areas should be considered for the lower limit.

As part of a broader review of the Welsh Governmentโ€™s controversial rollout of 20mph default limits, councils have been given the opportunity to identify roads that may be better suited to a 30mph limit instead.

Residents who wish to contribute their opinions can do so by emailing: [email protected]

The move follows widespread concern from motorists, businesses and community leaders who have argued that the blanket approach does not always reflect the realities of local road use in rural counties like Pembrokeshire.

The council has not yet confirmed which roads might be considered for changes, but feedback from this public engagement will help shape recommendations to be submitted for review.

The Herald understands that responses will be collected throughout June, with the findings passed on to the Welsh Government in due course.

Yesterday, the Yasa Southern Cross set sail from the Valero jetty โ€” but its brief stay marked a major milestone for the port and refinery.

At over 1,000 feet long and with the ability to carry 2 million barrels of crude oil, the vessel is one of the largest VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) ever to berth in Milford Haven. Its arrival demonstrated the Haven's capacity to handle ships at the very upper limit of global tanker design โ€” 318,000 tonnes in deadweight.

This wasnโ€™t just about size. The shipment delivered a vast volume of crude in one go, reducing the need for frequent smaller deliveries and increasing the refinery's efficiency.

The visit highlights the portโ€™s capacity to accommodate some of the worldโ€™s biggest crude carriers โ€” a reassuring sign of its continued relevance in international shipping and energy supply routes.

A proud moment for the pilots, tug crews, and everyone involved.

THE PRINCE and Princess of Wales have released two new photographs of Prince William with their children to celebrate Fatherโ€™s Day.

The images, shared on the coupleโ€™s official social media accounts on Sunday (June 15), show the prince enjoying time with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

One of the photographs is a black-and-white landscape shot showing the four lying on the grass, smiling and embracing, with Princess Charlotte looking directly at the camera. The second is a posed portrait of Prince William with his arms around George and Charlotte, while Louis stands in front.

The caption accompanying the post reads: โ€œHappy Fatherโ€™s Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & Lโ€ followed by a red heart emoji.

The images were taken by photographer Josh Shinner in Norfolk. Shinner previously captured the familyโ€™s 2023 Christmas card portrait.

It follows the family's appearance at Trooping the Colour on Saturday (June 14), held to mark the Kingโ€™s official birthday. A separate photo from that event, also posted online, shows Prince William in full military dress alongside Catherine and their children, all dressed in coordinated blue and red tones.

Last yearโ€™s Fatherโ€™s Day photo of William and his children, taken by the Princess of Wales, showed the four with arms around each other gazing out to sea.

Meanwhile, the King and Queen marked the occasion with their own tribute, posting images with their late fathers. One black-and-white photo shows Prince Philip pushing a young King Charles and Princess Anne on a swing. A second features Queen Camilla with her father, Major Bruce Shand, on her wedding day in 2005.

The hunt is on for the nationโ€™s most outstanding councillors โ€“ and yes, apparently they do exist.

The 2025 LGIU & CCLA Cllr Awards, now in their 16th glorious year, are calling on residents, council officers, and fellow councillors to nominate those rare local representatives who have actually made a difference.

If your councillor has done something genuinely impressive โ€“ or even just returned a phone call โ€“ nowโ€™s the time to say so.

Organised by the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) in partnership with fund manager CCLA, the awards are the only national celebration of local democracyโ€™s foot soldiers โ€“ those who brave public meetings, pothole complaints, and planning disputes for the good of the community.

There are five categories up for grabs:

Community Champion
Leader of the Year
Young Councillor of the Year
Innovator of the Year
Lifetime Legend

Shortlisted councillors will be invited to two ceremonies: one at Glasgow City Chambers on November 5, and another at Londonโ€™s Guildhall on November 18 โ€“ presumably with the hope theyโ€™ll remember not to vote themselves a travel allowance for the trip.

Jonathan Carr-West, Chief Executive of LGIU, said the awards aim to โ€œshine a spotlight on the dedication and impact of those who often go unrecognised.โ€ He didnโ€™t mention names โ€“ but if youโ€™re wondering whether your local representative deserves a nomination, consider: have they done more than post selfies on Facebook in a hi-vis jacket?

Nominations take just eight minutes and are open to everyone, so whether your councillor is a tireless community advocate or simply didnโ€™t fall asleep at the last planning meeting, you can make your case.

To nominate, visit the LGIU website (Link in comments)

The Herald understands that no members of the West Wales delegation, including Jim Scott and Tasmin Nash, have been detained, and Scott remained active on social media as recently as Friday morning.
However, disturbing scenes have emerged from Cairo and beyond, where activists from countries including France, Spain, Turkey, Canada, and the UK have had their passports confiscated, been forcibly removed from checkpoints, and in some cases physically assaulted by men in plain clothes. Footage circulating online shows demonstrators being kicked and dragged away, while some tried to defend themselves by throwing water bottles.

A ZOOKEEPER from Pembrokeshire who spends her days feeding fish to penguins has been crowned Miss Earth Wales 2025.

Abigail Wood, aged 25, works at Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo where she helps care for a colony of 42 penguins, including endangered Humboldt and macaroni species.

The Swansea-born conservationist, who now lives in Pembrokeshire, said the contrast between her day job and evening glamour is something she has embraced.

โ€œItโ€™s very much stinking of fish one minute, and then Iโ€™m glammed up the next,โ€ she said.

Miss Wood recently won the national beauty title at the Miss Earth Wales pageant held at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry. She will now go on to represent Wales at the international Miss Earth final later this year, an environmentally-focused global event.

Her background in conservation runs deep. She holds a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from Swansea University and is the founder of the 'Wild About Nature' initiative, which encourages children to engage with the natural world. She has also written a nature-themed activity book for young readers and is planning to run summer workshops at Folly Farm.

Speaking to The Herald, she said: โ€œWhen I was young, we used to spend weeks near Fishguard at my grandparents' caravan. With no phone signal or screens, we were out in nature every day โ€“ flying kites, catching butterflies, exploring. Thatโ€™s what started it all for me.โ€

Her job at Folly Farm involves feeding the penguins three times a day and caring for other bird species including flamingos and ducks.

โ€œThereโ€™s very little cleaning, but a lot of feeding,โ€ she said. โ€œWorking here has been a dream, and the team have been so supportive of everything Iโ€™ve done.โ€

Miss Wood said the Miss Earth competition appealed to her because it combined her love of nature with the opportunity to advocate for environmental education.

โ€œWhen you compete in Miss Earth, you choose an advocacy. Mine is conservation education. I want to show that you can be passionate about the planet and still enjoy the glamour too. Glamour doesnโ€™t have to come at the cost of your values.โ€

She added: โ€œItโ€™s about making the outdoors exciting again for young peopleโ€”and showing that penguin poo and sequins really can go hand in hand.โ€

Our Story

At the Herald, we cover stories from the whole of Pembrokeshire, bringing you all the news and issues that affect you in our wonderful county. The Herald will be free of political bias and will be written for the people and from the people. We welcome stories from everyone in the county and will give everyone a fair chance to have their say on issues large and small that affect our day-to-day lives. The Herald promises to report fairly and accurately on the issues and stories that arise. Launching a brand new newspaper title could be seen as a brave venture in this uncertain economic climate, but we at the Herald see a growing need for a county-wide voice for you, the readers. What we promise you is a champion for your concerns and causes, a forum to voice issues, and a place of record for the news within the county. This will range from the burning local issues, through reports from the courts, decisions and discussions from local government, or โ€“by no means least - the day-to-day stories of the people of Pembrokeshire. We will endeavour to report on the happy events which take place in all our towns and communities, from the smallest function to the most high profile events. We promise to report on stories throughout the county; whether in Haverfordwest, Tenby, Milford Haven, Neyland, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock, Narberth, Crymych, Fishguard and Goodwick, St Davidโ€™s, Kilgetty, Newport, or any of the smaller communities and villages. We will also not shirk from covering and investigating the often less palatable aspects of life; a newspaper needs to reflect every aspect of life in the area it serves, a mirror to the busy lives we all lead. We want the Herald to be the first thing you, the reader, turns to when they want to know what is happening in Pembrokeshire. We hope you will join us.
