To or to tag? This is one of the most common questions we get asked.

It can be tricky to know when to use a hashtag ( ) versus a regular tag (or both) in your posts.

A good way to approach social media is to think of it like a face-to-face conversation. Just like in real life, it’s important to be polite, engaging, and not focus solely on yourself. Social media is a two-way interaction, and this applies to tagging as well.

Consider hashtags and tags in this context:

Imagine you’re at a party, chatting with someone about an interesting topic. If you want others around you to join in, you’d raise your voice just enough for them to hear. That’s like using a - it helps people discover your conversation and jump in. On the other hand, if someone calls your name or personally invites you into their conversation, that’s like using a - directly connecting with specific individuals.

🗝️ Start typing a keyword into the search bar and you’ll see suggested keyword phrases you may want to add to your keyword list.

🗝️ If you click on a couple of the ‘top posts’ under that keyword or phrase, you’ll discover what others in your field use too.

🗝️ Then you need to incorporate those keywords into your captions.

🗝️ For example, if you search ‘local locksmith’, you’ll see that the tops posts use keywords and phrases such as: safe and secure, reliable, repairs and replacements, emergency call outs, locked out, etc.

🌿 Sometimes, the most beautiful moments are the ones we least expect.

After a VERY busy week, I’ve just been on a walk with 2 of my children and our dog, and I finally felt my whole body relax - which was so needed. ☺️ ☀️

This weekend, try to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Stop counting the days. Slow down, breathe, and cherish the simple joys around you - you’ll feel better for it.
