ODEON is set to return to Middlesbrough by late 2025, taking over and revamping the former Cineworld site.

This marks a comeback for ODEON, which previously operated a cinema on Corporation Road. The original cinema closed its doors in 2001 and was converted into Jumpin Jaks nightclub later that year. The nightclub operated until 2005, after which the building was demolished in 2006.

The new cinema at the former Cineworld site will bring a fresh movie-going experience to the area, reestablishing ODEON’s presence in the town.

Middlesbrough's Christmas Lights Switch On takes place in Centre Square from 4pm this evening.

The Snow White panto cast and Santa Claus will be doing the honours at 5.45pm, as Jeff Stelling is unable to attend due to illness.

There's plenty of free family entertainment lined up including live music, character meet and greets, and a giant snow globe.

Town centre restaurants are running a ‘kids eat free’ offer, or kids eat for £1.

Free after 3pm parking is also available in town centre car parks.
