The London Book Fair have announced their inaugural Audio Alley, a dedicated space for audio exhibitors, which will feature solution and service providers within the audio sector. A series of aligned events will take place in the Tech Theatre, with conversations around audiobooks and audio publishing.

We’re delighted to confirm that friends and colleagues of B7 Media and Audioteria will be doing a seminar on the subject of - Dramatising Books for Audio. The seminar takes place on 14 March, 14:15 - 14:45.

The panel includes multi award-winning audio, television and film writer’s Ayeesha Menon and Richard Kurti, along with audio drama producer, Helen Quigley and producer/director, Andrew Mark Sewell.

“Dramatising Books for Audio”

An expert panel of award-winning audio drama writers, producers and directors will discuss what makes a successful book dramatization. Adapting books beyond a simple narrative audiobook into a performed, sound designed and orchestrated immersive story, creates a cinematic experience in the listener’s imagination. The only thing a fully
realised audio drama doesn’t provide are the pictures!

Alison Mundy is back… in a brand-new Afterlife audiobook for Halloween!

Lesley Sharp (Scott and Bailey, The Full Monty) returns to the role she created in the acclaimed, award-winning ITV paranormal drama series Afterlife, in an all-new story written by the original creator of the series, Stephen Volk (Ghostwatch, The Awakening).

Writer Stephen Volk says: “I’ve been wondering what happened to Alison Mundy ever since Afterlife ended in 2006. Was she still operating as a spirit medium in Bristol? How was she coping after the death of Robert? Lockdown provided a space for me to explore some of the answers. Naturally I wanted Lesley Sharp’s approval as she had made the character unforgettable. Luckily, she loved it, and offered to record the story, which the brilliant Bafflegab have realised with their trademark expertise. I’m utterly thrilled to bring Afterlife back to life. I hope it has all the chills and emotion of the original.”

Pre-order it now exclusively from Bafflegab and Audioteria - links below

Brand new audio drama "Theatre of the Damned" is now available to buy and download from new platform Audioteria, which is intended to be a purchase platform primarily for independent audio drama and enhanced audiobooks.

'Theatre of the Damned' is a B7 Media co-production with indie theatre company Metal Rabbit Productions. It’s planned as a series, but we wanted to make sure it worked as a standalone story in its own right as well as serving as a proof of concept.

Set in the grim and gaudy Paris of the 1920s, "Theatre of the Damned" draws inspiration from the real-life Theatre du Grand Guignol. It explores the blood-curdling depths to which struggling immigrant theatre producer, Camille Choisy (Amir El-Masry), penniless Parisian playwright, Andre De Lorde (Sam Crane) and aspiring actress, Paula Maxa (Kelly Burke), will stoop in order to satiate their audience’s blood-thirsty appetite and gain Faustian profits.

Unusually for an audio drama, and as a result of having a theatre company as partners, we had the luxury of a rehearsal day, which was a great opportunity for the cast to meet and work with each other before heading into the studio.

Theatre of the Damned was recorded over two days with the lovely people at The Soundhouse Ltd in Acton, where we had a lot of grisly fun. The second day held a surprise: our Production Assistant casually mentioned that there was a young bird caged under the wastepaper basket in the corner of the studio. One of our actors with a gift for animal whispering had rescued it outside and decided to look after it between his scenes. Given the themes of the script, it fortunately survived till lunchtime, when it was released to loiter by the picnic tables looking for crumbs.

During our two days of recording, we staged fights, did some “bad” acting, ate fingers, attended executions, vomited and screamed. There was LOTS of screaming.

'Theatre of the Damned' is available now and contains scenes of gore, horror and strong language – not for one to listen to while eating lunch!

Head to Audioteria to buy and download. The site is paired with its own app where you can keep all your Audioteria content – or you can play on whatever device you prefer.
