This is a topic I’ve been mulling over for a while, as someone who values privacy and now rarely posts on my personal account. Back in the day I’d be constantly posting on the grid and engaging with friends, and that’s exactly what it was, another way to communicate with my mates and have some LOLZ so to speak. But something has changed and it got me thinking. It’s not just me feeling like this.
It seems something is afoot with how Instagram users now choose to engage on the platform. It’s becoming far more common for users to react to a story or share a reel in a message than it is for them to comment on a post - and it’s not just us introverts or the social media reluctant who are heading into the DMs, although that’s pretty much where I prefer to hang out nowadays.
Of course, businesses who market their products or services on Instagram still need to be doing just that, but might need some strategic tweaks to optimise engagement in this new age of privacy. In my most recent blog post I share some tips on how you can do this - link in comments below 👇
How about you? Have you noticed a change in how you engage on social media, or how you value your privacy online? I’d love to know your thoughts on this - drop me a comment below (or a DM if you’d rather!)
