"This morning, I received the heart-breaking news of Caz Matthews' passing. The loss of such an incredible human being, whose heart was as big as Manchester itself, has left me deeply saddened. My sincerest condolences go out to her family and close friends during this difficult time.
I first encountered Caz when Fab Radio was in its early stages. She approached me with an unwavering determination to be part of our team. Her passion was so infectious that within minutes of our meeting, I found myself arranging a time slot for her new 80s music show, I have to add I didn't even want an 80s show. But i had no say in the matter.
Caz quickly became a cornerstone of our station. Her dedication and enthusiasm were evident in everything she did. Even after many years when she moved to Spain, she attempted to continue producing shows for us, showcasing her remarkable commitment to her craft.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with many presenters, but none quite matched Caz's vigour, passion, and sheer determination. She was a force of nature in the radio world, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Caz Matthews will be forever remembered for her contributions to radio and her indomitable spirit. She was a strong woman with a heart of gold, whose legacy will continue to inspire. May she rest in peace."

It was with tremendous sadness that I learned of my friend and co-presenter Tom Anderson, passing on Sunday, 10th February 2024.

We started working together twelve years ago when he began to make guest appearances with myself and Paul Ripley on the Mancunian Candidates political radio show on Fab Radio International . He soon began to be described as the 'Third Mancunian Candidate' and was then on every week. Occasionally, the station received nearly as much hate mail for Tom as it did for me. That is praise indeed. In the political talk radio arena, a sign of a job well done!

We later met up in Las Vegas for the first of many fun breaks, and I got to know him as a person. Tom's warmth and friendliness gave you a lift on even the darkest days. He was kind, caring and compassionate, and he had a smile that would light up the room. Me and Leonora Royce just loved his company. He was a joy to hang out with.

He taught me that having different politics could never get in the way of a genuine friendship and that tolerance and understanding each other were essential qualities. He never pulled me over to the right, and I never pulled him over to the left (unless you count the time I got him to pose with me on a headless statue of Lenin outside a vodka bar!). My life has been better for having known him, and his influence on me over the years has made me reflect and always try to see the other point of view.

The phrase 'larger than life' gets overused, but it is the only possible way of describing Tom accurately. He was a big personality that everyone was happy to be around. A genuine one-off. He was like a human energy drink if you were ever tired or unhappy. His boundless optimism and flawless people skills were also always on display. Tom would just know if anyone was not 100% and try to help them. His generosity was also endless. Trying to stop him from paying for everyone on any night out was pointless. After every meal, you had to scheme like a plot from a Mission Impossible movie to get to the waiter first and beat him to paying the cheque. You could try, yet, somehow, he would have always paid it earlier, without ever seeing him leave the table!

He was a great American, and what we Brits would call, a thoroughly decent bloke.

My thoughts, love, and those of Leonora Royce , Paul Ripley and everyone here at Fab Radio International go out to Lesil L. McGuire, Grayson, Jared Dullum and all his close family and friends.

I hope it is of some small consolation at this difficult time that Tom had a lot of friends, and many listeners here in Manchester, and the whole of the UK, who will miss him. His reach went far and wide to the benefit of anyone who crossed his path.

I am going to miss you, Tom. After all the fun arguments and debates, you finally got to have the last word.
