🌿 PEAT ON EARTH… 🌱

We have some exciting news to announce! We’ve been selected to receive a Connections Through Culture grant from Arts – British Council / British Council Malaysia to co-produce a collaborative body of work between the UK and Malaysia that focuses on the topic of climate change.

Work has already begun on our project which is a collaboration with Malaysian filmmaker Factual TV and us. Our project will result in ten poems and spoken word films written by local poets Matt Sowerby and Kimchi Lai both highlighting the importance of bogs and peat swamps in both countries.

Bogs and peat swamps are often seen negatively, with terms like “swamped” or “bogged down“ giving them a bad reputation. However, these biodiverse habitats have an important, planet-saving story to share and deserve celebrating.

The star of the UK films will be Foulshaw Moss, one of Cumbria Wildlife Trust's flagship nature reserves. Ben will spend two days there in May with Matt the poet, immersing themselves in the habitat, capturing visuals and gathering inspiration for the poetry.

We’re off to a cracking start with this project and can’t wait to get even more stuck in over the next few months!! We’ll keep you updated with our progress - watch this space for news about a public exhibition both in the UK and Kuala Lumpur coming later this year.

Such an honour to work on this fundraising film about the amazing work they do at Oasis Hub Hull and World of Wonder- WoW. It is what churches were always meant to be – a hub of the community, a focal point where everyone is welcome.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
It means what we've always stood for – making video content that's good for people, platforms and the planet. But now that's backed up by an internationally recognised certification.

SO IT'S JUST ANOTHER BADGE ON YOUR WEBSITE FOOTER?
No! Rude! Amongst other things, B Corps have to complete a rigorous assessment process to demonstrate their social and environmental impact. They also have to legally embed their commitment to purpose alongside profit in their company articles.

It's very exciting to be part of this global movement for change, and we hope to inspire other media companies in Greater Manchester to do the same 😊

One of our goals for 2024 was to make more space for the stuff that *doesn't* pay the bills. The voluntary work and passion projects that excite us and flex our creative muscles.

With that in mind, it's a pleasure to introduce 'Ode to Manny' – a love letter to Greater Manchester written, performed and produced by Jamie Swaby. Inspired by his personal relationship with his home town, and using a mix of new footage and stuff we had on the cutting room floor from various client projects, we hope you'll agree this is a very special piece of work.

So put some headphones on, get comfy, and prepare to be reminded of why we all love this city.

We're super proud to be partnering with Manchester High School for Girls in their 150th year. We're working on heaps of fundraising content for them, including this film. The school's vision to become "needs-blind" will maximise the potential of Greater Manchester's girls and young women, regardless of their background or circumstances.
