Sky court order means ISPs must block pirate streams
Sky has obtained a UK High Court order that will make ISPs responsible for blocking piracy services illegally streaming sports and entertainment it owns rights to. The order will require UK internet service providers to stop people from illegally accessing streams across a range of linear channels — where viewers must tune in at a specific time to watch a programme — including Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic, reports the FT. The order granted is similar to the one granted to the Premier League in each of the last four seasons but is designed to protect a broader range of content from across its programming. Sky will now have the legal means to hand to shut down individual pirate sites at certain times, using a third-party group that identifies the source of illegal streams via IP addresses or dedicated servers. This is then passed to ISPs to block access to those locations on their network. Blocking is seen to be one of the most effective tools in tackling piracy in the industry. Last season the Premier League’s UK blocking order helped to block or remove over 600,000 illegal live streams.

BBC urges SD-only satellite viewers to prepare for switch-off
The BBC has confirmed it is putting out additional messages on its satellite version of BBC One SD ahead of the service’s closure in early 2024. Viewers with legacy Sky and Freesat receivers will now see extra messaging, in addition to that currently shown during regional news slots. Sky satellite viewers will also see the messaging on the standard definition copy of BBC One that is carried on channel 801. The message currently pops-up in between selected programmes. It currently appears on top of what’s on BBC One at that time. The frequency of the messaging is expected to increase as the year progresses. Sky is offering affected subscribers a free upgrade to a newer HD-enabled satellite receiver. Freesat viewers should consult www.hdsatelliteupgrade.co.uk where they can find out their options. For viewers without internet access, the HD satellite upgrade helpline is available by calling 0330 123 1876. The BBC will close its standard definition service on satellite in early 2024. From this timepoint onwards, only Freeview will offer standard definition versions of BBC channels.

TV Aerial System - Matrix Park Hospital, Chorley

Northwest Aerials Limited have recently completed the installation of a new communal terrestrial TV aerial system to service multiple TV points on a New Build Hospital Facility in Chorley.

We were initially approached by the Electrical Contractors who enquired about having a communal TV aerial system installed. We arranged a site assessment with the client and then provided a full report and quotation for the recommended work.

After receiving confirmation to proceed and acceptance of our quotation we made arrangements to complete the installation of the new communal TV Aerial System. All internal and external equipment has been installed successfully and each TV distribution point tested as working.

TV Aerial System - New Build Apartments, Sale.

Northwest Aerials Limited have recently completed the installation of a new terrestrial TV aerial system to service 15x TV points on a New Build Apartment Block in Sale, Manchester.

We were initially approached by the architect of the building who enquired about having a communal TV aerial system installed. We arranged a meeting with the architect on site, to undertake a site survey and then provided a full report and quotation for the recommended work.

After receiving confirmation to proceed and acceptance of our quotation we made arrangements to complete the installation of the new TV Aerial System. All internal and external equipment was installed successfully and each TV distribution point tested as working.

South Tower - Princes Dock, Liverpool

Northwest Aerials Limited recently attended an emergency call out request to the South Tower at Princes Dock Apartments in Liverpool. Unfortunately, a leak within the building had caused major problems with the existing communal TV system.

The Property Management Company were receiving a high volume of complaints from residents on site and turned to us for help. We have a long standing working relationship with the Property Management Company and attended site immediately on the same day we were contacted.

After an initial site visit to assess and diagnose the issues a full detailed report was issued to the Management Company explaining our findings. Upon approval, we returned to site and have successfully undertaken the necessary repairs and completed the installation of new distribution equipment into the communal system. The communal TV system is back up and running to the correct capacity and all signals have been tested as working.

Some of the horrors we find other companies doing!!! The first image was done by an electrical company to get 3 bedrooms with TV points. The second image is something we see more often. Hidden from the customers view on the roof is a 3 tv point tape joint. This will work until the rain starts to ingress the tape and then water tracks down the cable into the back of the telly.

There is a reason behind having a really cheap quote and hers the proof.
