The Ojude Oba Festival is one of Nigeria's most celebrated cultural events, held annually in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Here are some key points about the festival -

- Held every third day after Eid-el-Kabir.

- The festival brings together the Ijebu people and visitors from around the world to honor the Awujale, the traditional ruler of Ijebuland.

- The Ojude Oba Festival is over 100 years old and was started by Muslim converts in Ijebu-Ode as a small gathering to show appreciation to the Awujale for allowing them to practice and observe their religion.

- Different cultural age groups known as regberegbe parade at the front courtyard of the king's palace.

- Regberegbe are indigenes, their friends and associates who dance in turns to drums and songs in front of the Awujale and other chiefs.

- The festival is usually attended by over 250,000 people across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

- The festival is sponsored by the Awujale and some major corporate organizations in Nigeria, such as Globacom, First City Monument Bank and UAC of Nigeria.

- The festival has become a platform for cultural exchange, fostering understanding and appreciation among diverse groups.

- The 2020 and 2021 editions of the Ojude Oba festival were cancelled due to the pandem!c.

- The 2024 edition held on today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
