📌💨 Don’t Let Your Mindset and Confidence Stop You

Couple of years back, I attended an interview. Upon reaching the venue, I walked straight to a designated point of identification as a guest and signed in.

All protocols observed I was directed to go sit in the waiting lounge. On reaching the lounge, I was amazed to discover about Nine (9) people already seated at various corners

On close observation, I realized they were waiting for the same interview. The scenario absolutely made me uneasy being the only African in the midst of 10 candidates.

I decided to read through the interview invite again, it dawned on me that it was indicated to be a group assessment interview.

Weighing my chances, I thought of calling off the interview and taking flight but after deep self-reflection and evaluation, I built up the courage and considered myself a good fit to participate not minding cultural borders

As time drew near for us to be ushered into the interview room, I kept struggling with the uncomfortable consciousness of appearing different from the rest of the candidates.

I thought about the fluidity of communication; how to increase my listening capability so I don't find it difficult to grasp their local accent in other to have a flexing time with them during the group assessment.

I had to re-engineer my mindset, focusing and fathoming on the task ahead with confidence.

The group assessment interview was finally conducted within the space of 1hrs and a half. The approach employed by the organizers was fair and standard.

I was elated at the exposure and experience gained at the Interview My confidence level became broadened.✅
