🗣 Why do we commemorate World Humanitarian Day?

🌍 On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including Sergio Vieira de Mello, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq. Five years later, the United Nations General Assembly designated 19 August as World Humanitarian Day (WHD) through a resolution.

🌍 WHD is a campaign organised by the Nation Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (United Nations OCHA).

HAPPY WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY, 2024: 🗣 Why do we commemorate World Humanitarian Day? 🌍 On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including Sergio Vieira de Mello, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq.
