I put this post together last night and then ended up chatting about the exact same topic this morning with Cheshire Nannies🤯😅

Putting your numbers in perspective is so important to do regularly! Got 20 likes on a post, that’s twenty people saying they enjoy what you have to say! Regardless of algorithm or engagement rate, how would it feel if 20 people stopped you to say they agree with you, they’ve learned from a post you created or had a laugh at it over their lunch 😅

Obsessing over metrics isn’t a good use of your time gang, this is when you forget to create for your community and hyper focus on numbers you don’t have control over 💁‍♀️

Increasing your audience is on your list of social media priorities but it no longer needs to be your top one ☺️

When I first started what is now January 92 Socials my slogan was literally “Hard Work And Good Vibes” ✌️🌸

As time went on however, those turned into ‘oh yeah pay me when you can’ and ‘that’s fine yeah, completely ignore that agreement we had in place dont worry hun’, resulting in some very difficult conversations, sleepless nights and the realisation that I wasn’t always being valued because I didn’t value myself properly! 🤯

My processes have become tighter as a result of being stung but this has resulted in being surrounded with the most AMAZING clients and businesses as part of my circle 🪩

Were there any bad habits that you slipped into when you first started freelancing that were hard to shake off?

I used to count to 23 when the office sung Happy Birthday to me because I knew it would be over by then 😅

I nearly passed out when I thought my now husband was going to propose to me in front of people in New York 😱

I once had to give housekeeping info at a conference and legit couldn’t sleep properly for weeks beforehand thinking about it. 🤯

Being shimmied into self employment as a result of being made redundant made me realise that I now had no excuse to negotiate with my weaknesses. I couldn’t hide behind a team or rely on the power of working for a big brand to get people to reply to my emails - no one is coming to save you honey.

I won’t say I don’t feel an ounce of nerves now before heading into a meeting with client stakeholders, speaking at networking events or waiting for that Zoom screen to load but the passion I have for my business and its growth overshadows any of that now. I’m a team of one and if I’m not going to show off my expertise then who is?!

She’s back with her Awareness Days 👋✨

Again, for the people in the back - you can’t build a strategy around these dates. This month I ran my first week long challenge and bloody loved it! We had 15 businesses join me in a gorgeous community chat and I worked to elevate their brands and provide support throughout the week ☺

Lots of similar issues popped up from the brands involved and we were able to work through all the lingering imposter syndrome and fear of ‘what ifs’ to just press post!

I’ve been running my studio content sessions for a few months now on a 1-1 basis and tomorrow will be hosting five business owners in the gorgeous space at Lumi Room Studios. I’ve got out of my own way and planned a day where each brand owner will get their own bespoke b roll and ‘to camera’ footage as well as using each other as extras to set up mock client consultations, workshops or whatever their business might need! I use the example all the time of an aesthetics practitioner I see as I scroll 🤳 now I don't interact with her content every time I see her post, I might not reply to her Stories - but BOYYYY do I recommend her in the streets. I've shared her profile via WhatsApp, I've shown her work in the playground and I've never even been to her clinic 💁‍♀️ I'm not alone in doing this either, you'll all have accounts you cheerlead for daily without them necessarily being aware! The work you put in on your business social media may seem thankless at times but there are all these little seeds being sewn that are purely down to you showing UP🌱
