Jonglei Deputy Governor who urges the Red Army Foundation to be an agent of peace within the community said the state government will provide two million pounds to RAF. On Monday, the RAF members in Bor commemorate the 12th anniversary under the theme: Remembrance of 21 years of patriotism and struggles for the independence of South Sudan. Addressing an event on behalf of Governor Mahjuop Biel Turuk in Bor, Atong Kuol Manyang told RAF members to cooperate with the state government.

July 30th is martyrs day,a day where South Sudanese people unexpectedly into a nightmare on the African continent.

The death of Dr John Garang de Mabior, Chairman and Commander in Chief of SPM/A and the First Vice President of Sudan and the President of the government of Southern Sudan was a tragedy to the entire world.

On this day, in 2005, all South Sudanese in and abroad received shocking news about the death of the SPLM/A Chairman who died in a helicopter crash on a mountain near New Kush at the South Sudan border of Uganda.

Martyrs cemented a foundation of the new generations. They didn’t die in vain, we’d remember sacrifices for self-determination which ended Arab marginalization on July 9th 2011.

On behalf of the Red Army Foundation and on my own behalf, my heartfelt memory to martyrs and to my farther, uncles and colleagues. Rest in peace, your 55 years of struggle delivered a great milestone to us.

Your reward is South Sudan Country

The Red Army Foundation ( RAF ) commemorate its 12th anniversary in Bor after 38 years of the formation of the Red Army, a child-associated unit of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army ( SPLM ) rebel movement in Sudan.

The RAF embraced peace and unity on July 29th, as a remembrance of 21 years of patriotism and struggle.

Jesh el Hamer also known as Red Army in English, turned up in large numbers to remember colleagues, relatives and dear ones who sacrifice lives for the sake of freedom.

On behalf of the Jonglei Governor, Mahjuop Biel Turuk, Deputy Governor, Atong Kuol Manyang said Red Army members have aged 40 to 55 years.

Atong who urges RAF members to remain united said there’s a need for considering new recruits to keep the organization alive.

Red Army Foundation is a non- political and military organization registered by the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission on 29th of July 2012 to work for the development and rehabilitation of the veterans.

Atong said she joined the Red Army in Itang and later moved to Palotak where she registered with Face Foundation groups.

Acting Chairperson Michael Adoor Mabior said that 29th July is a remarkable event for former child soldiers.

Adoor said although they were unable, they do what they can in memory of difficulties. He said the history of the RAF is paramount.

With most horrific testimonies, RAF would wish to inform its community to remain committed to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolutions of the conflicts in South Sudan under Gen President Salva Kiir Mayardit, who is a Chief patron of the Red Army Foundation.

The SPLM State secretariat in Jonglei State have sworn in a new deputy chairperson, Cde Tuong Majok Deng on Saturday.

Cde Tuong is a member of parliament in the Jonglei State legislative assembly. He was elected MP in 2010.

Speaking during the ceremony, SPLM State chairperson,Comrade Atong Kuol Manyang encourage her deputy to work hard.

Comrade Tuong assured his party members to adapt the policies. He said that the unity of SPLM is important.

The authorities from Dr, John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology has launched the rice expansion project in Jonglei State. The cultivation of rice was introduced last year by South Korea contingent of the UNMISS and the university due to climate change in Jonglei State. Speaking during an event in Bor,university chairperson and presidential advisor, Kuol Manyang Juuk said rice is an alternative to cash crops that have climatic challenges in the State. Hon,Mohlodi Muofhe, ambassador of South Africa, urges people to embark on agricultural development so that African nations feed on food from South Sudan. Prof, Abraham Matoch Dhal, the vice chancellor the University said Rice is a cash crop which easily adapts to climatic changes such as floods. The University has an extension of land for 100 by 100 meters at it’s compound, with pieces of 8 by 8 metres plots. The harvest is expected after 90 days.

On Monday 24th, 2024, the top leadership of the Red Army foundation in Jonglei State has delivered an application award to H.E. Mahjuop Biel Turuk, who is the state governor.

Governor Biel was appointed by the South Sudanese President this month replacing Ex-governor Denay Jock Chagor who served for four years in office.

Mahjuop who is a member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance promised to works with all government stakeholders including developmental partners during his term.

Speaking to members of the foundation on Monday, Biel appreciates unity of the former child’s soldiers and urges them to continue with their efforts in the national building.

Meanwhile Red Army Foundation Chairperson, David Dut Ayuen Kou said, in the state their patron is a governor.

It is a policy of the Red Army foundation to award top government leaders in Jonglei State.

Red Army Foundation is non-political and non-military organisation founded in 2012 mandates of unifying former child soldiers of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army ( SPLM ) across South Sudan.
