To celebrate Crescent turning 1, I have decided to start a podcast!

Launching on Friday 17 January, it will be about marketing, running a small business, parenting (and juggling the two!) and neurodivergence in the workplace.

Merry Christmas!

I'm taking a few days off to enjoy the festive season with my family, and I hope you all have a special and peaceful time.

This is quite a personal post, but there are some things I've struggled with this year...

- saying 'no' when I've not wanted to work with a client
- not taking a break quickly enough and burning out
- not feeling confident to express when I've changed my mind

When I started Crescent at the beginning of this year, I thought I would have to say 'yes' to every potential new client, that every spare moment I had should be spent working, and that I wasn't 'good enough' to change my mind or give my opinion on anything.

I think the imposter syndrome was rather strong; I spent a lot of time attending webinars and doing online courses, that, whilst interesting, I found I often already knew what they were trying to teach me.

I'm now feeling much more confident, have actually turned down clients, and have started scheduling time for rest and self-care. My aim for next year is to work on expressing and owning my feelings and views online, with something special coming in the new year that will hopefully help this process!

So, here's a little reminder to anyone else who struggles, even if it's only from time to time...

It's ok... you can say 'no', take a break, change your mind, and just be yourself.

Posting regularly online but you're not seeing an increase in your engagement? STOP! ⚠️

There's so much more to it than that.

You need to be PRESENT online...
- share your website; you might have the best website in the world, but no one will know about it if you don't tell them about it and where to find it
- engage with other people; follow other accounts, comment on their posts and share their content
- reply to comments on your posts; show that you care about who is looking at your content

Engaging with people and demonstrating that you are an expert in your field is crucial if you want to succeed. By spending time building relationships with potential clients, it puts you at an advantage when the time comes that they are in need of your services/products!

I had a great time at the first networking event tonight - made better by the fact that the husband and I got to actually network together! He's usually at property investment groups, so it was nice that he was able to join me tonight.

There was an eclectic group of businesses, which just made the evening more interesting, and I bumped into Sam from Fuzzy Logic and Martin from M Edwards Consulting - MEC, which was fab! As well as networking, there were two talks, one by Ben at Yomo Finance and one by Haydn Griffiths about overcoming Imposter Syndrome - something I think all small business owners face at some point!

Set at the beautiful Edenwood Place, with incredible food (swipe to see a pic of just a few of the delicious canapes), it's safe to say I'll be back for the next one! Well done HW Media Management!
