This summer, as we witness the incredible athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, let’s also acknowledge the unsung champions among us - parents.

The summer holidays may be a time of relaxation for children and teachers, but for parents, it often means juggling work and childcare.

With UK parents averaging 34 days of annual leave, they spend 75% of this time ensuring their children are cared for while working full time. It’s a balancing act of summer camps, grandparents, or using up all their leave at once.

Reflecting on Team GB Olympic shooter Amber Rutter’s silver medal win and the resilience required to manage sports and parenthood, it’s evident that all parents possess an Olympic mindset. They not only handle work and childcare but also manage households and personal well-being without the recognition given to athletes.

It’s been a packed start to 2024 here at Compete PR, and as we approach the close of the first quarter - and indeed, the full financial year (where does time go?) - we thought we’d share some of the great things we’ve been up to!
Highlights of 2024 (so far) includes:

✨I think that even mountain addicts should experience the Roubaix cobbles at least once, whatever condition they’re in. When you watch Paris-Roubaix on telly, it doesn’t do justice to what a wild ride it is. Perhaps the pros just make it look easy.
Riding the cobbles yourself is the only way to disregard that notion, it’s such a one-off ride in so many ways, that’s what I like about it✨

✨ Confession time: I’ve been a runner for over 15 years and I hit the road several times a week, but I’ve never had a sports bra fitted. As a health journalist I often get to review fitness gear and I am guilty of wearing whatever I get sent without giving it much thought.
Admittedly, I have become a parent and survived a pandemic since the last time I went shopping for running kit, so a professional fitting was long overdue. At a virtual session with an expert from UK sports bra retailer boobydoo, I learned some surprising things about the world of breast support.✨

It was such an experience to visit Belgium last week with the team at as part of a media camp hosted by 🇧🇪

This event involved complete immersion in the world of cycling technology; featuring 8-hours of media speed-dating, a mind-blowing factory tour and plenty of good Belgian food 🚴‍♀️
