We have now welcomed another Stones team member 💕

My own little bundle - Margot Grace 💕

I am now officially out of the salon (Physically)! During my maternity leave our amazing team will be holding down the fort together and working hard to look after Stones, each other and you, our guests. 🤍

Whilst I physically will not be there I will continue to run the socials and emails as much as possible. Although with a new baby my responses may take me slightly longer than usual. If you would like to book, cancel or reschedule appointments I highly recommend you call the salon on 01509 621162 so these enquiries are dealt with promptly for you.

Have you ever wondered why that chair over there is empty ?

We had this chair all ready and waiting for a new guest who had booked it out for an hours cut and finish with one of our team members. She confirmed her appointment and we sent her a reminder text message 48 hours beforehand. But unfortunately, she didn’t show up.

We waited for abit, we called her to check everything was ok and she told us she would be with us soon, it was just the traffic. But 10 minutes later she still didn’t arrive.

This had a negative impact on our business and team member. The lunch break our stylist had booked out for after the appointment was missed out on because she was eagerly waiting for her guest to arrive as promised and losing revenue due to turning away other guests that wanted this appointment.

Our staff rely on these bookings to pay their wages which pay their bills to support their lives and families. Not just our stylists but our support staff too.

This is why salons have cancellation policies and why it upsets us so much when people get angry at us over the phone for enforcing them to protect our staff and business. We are passionate about what we do and the people we work with.

We really appreciate our loyal guests that understand and respect these policies. But unfortunately there are still some guests that don’t think twice about making an appointment and not showing up.

This particular booking was an hours loss for our salon and team member. But we do have colour services booked out for 4+ hours. When these guests don’t turn up that’s 50% of our stylists day. They are losing revenue for 50% of their working day and the salon still needs to be able to pay their wages.

The stock purchased to carry out the service has been paid for and sits in the cupboard. The lights and heating are on and are paid for. The cancellation is too late to be filled.

So next time you see an empty chair in a salon or restaurant or staff members looking like they have nothing to do. Please remember all of the hard work that goes into running a business like ours.

Just your reminder that heat protection IS the most important product to own 🙌🏼

In particular our Perfect defence spray !

The demonstration speaks for itself. Heat on our hair wet or dry can have a damaging affect. With heat protection you limit that damage hugely. Always invest in professional grade products if your hair health is important to you ❤️🙌🏼

World Menopause Day is October 18th 🤍

We can’t help to stop the menopause but we can help break the stigma, understand it better and give you advice on the area we know best - your hair 🤍

How the Menopause can affect your hair…

When your oestrogen levels decrease in menopause your hair will lose volume and length.

You may find your hair breaks easier. This is because the new hair your follicles produce are finer and finer hair is prone to breakage.

The signs of menopausal hair thinning:
Your ponytail is thinner.
Your hair is not growing as it used to.
Your parting is wider and your scalp is more visible.
Recession at your temples.
Reduction in volume and length of your hair.

Things you can do to help:

Use professional grade products. Ask your stylist what will work best for you and your hair routine.
Manage stress (easier said than done) but try breathing techniques, listening to nature sounds and doing yoga, they work wonders.
Rosemary oil for a natural hair growth scalp treatment.
Or try scalp oils containing hormones (please seek medical guidance beforehand).
Eat a balanced diet including lots of things in their natural form to get all of the nutritional benefits.
Take a good quality multi vitamin.
Sleep better and sleep on a silk pillowcase.
