Over a million people watch the new Time Team episodes, with the Anglo Saxon Cemetary being a lovely example. Shadow Tor produced a variety of visuals, from a high detail scan of the treasures to a historical reconstruction of a burial and the wider Norfolk landscape. Great to see our 3D graphics getting such a huge viewership, world wide too.

Shadow Tor hosted an exciting evening of history, legend and paranormal at the ancient farm at Kilminorth last weekend. A good time was had by all, with some exciting results using new tech and old divination methods such as copper rod dowsing. A good night, in the heart of the old woods, the largest ancient oak woodland in Cornwall.

Fun lunch meeting in Looe today, with the owners of Drake’s Island, the historic ‘Jewel of Plymouth Sound’. We’ve camped overnight a couple of times there, and believe it’s a great historical location for events. We had a look around with Time Team a couple of years back, one hot Summer day. Our explorations made it onto Time Team news. Lots of mystery on the island, a military fortification for 500 years, but a religious site before that, and a good contender for Ictis too, although we favour Looe Island.

We’ve had a couple of ‘unexplainable’ moments too, often while doing 3D captures, and NOT paranormal shenanigans. Very intriguing. It would be great to host some science led investigations in the old ruins, gun batteries and tunnels. Old service personal who worked on the island in the 40’s and 50’s did talk about the ghost of ‘Sentry Walk’ which has recently been uncovered.

Lots of possibilities for dedicated paranormal events, which we’d all be very excited about.

My first experience of proper archaeology and Time Team was a chance opportunity in 2008, when the crew arrived in Looe, Cornwall. With excavations on the mainland and the island, it was an exciting dig, tracing the islands history, through many name changes, from Lammana to St.Georges, with whispers as a candidate for Ictis. It is know mostly known as simply ‘Looe Island’.

Working today at the wonderful remnants of Cerne Abbey, in Dorset. Bitterly cold, but strangely warm in the old Abbot’s Gate ‘tower’. A thrill to be handed the ancient old door key, and left alone to capture all the history. Little remains of the old abbey and cloisters, the site of a recent Time Team dig, so it’s our job to rebuild the old place (in fully explorable 3D no less!) for the forthcoming show.

Working in pretty Sherborne, Dorset, historic buildings include Sherborne Abbey, its manor house, independent schools, and two castles: the ruins of a 12th-century fortified palace and the 16th-century mansion known as Sherborne Castle built by Sir Walter Raleigh. Much of the old town, including the abbey and many medieval and Georgian buildings, is built from distinctive ochre-coloured ham stone.
