TIP 1 FOR FREELANCERS: HAVE A CONTRACT
Freelancers should ensure that they have a contract between themselves and their clients. Some freelancers tend to overlook this part, but it is crucial. As a service provider, it is pivotal to have your clients sign a contract so that you may agree on the terms of engagement. It is easy to get excited about a project and trust that everything will go well. But it is better to be safe than sorry. A verbal agreement is not always enough clients can always change their minds for whatever reasons. Consult with a lawyer, have them explain your and the client's rights, and draw a legal contract for you. The contract agreement must include similar terms to those of an employment contract to protect the freelancer.
