Fast Future Publishing is launching a regular series of books targeted at a business and generalist audience. Our goal is to profile the latest thinking of established and emerging futurists, foresight researchers and future thinkers from around the world. The books will be published in both print and digital format, with the first publication, The Future of Business, due for release at the start

of June 2015. We have created an innovative model that bypasses all of the traditional publishing channels - selling the print book directly from our own website. Profits are shared with the authors and core team working on the book. 10% of profits from the first book will be used to fund scholarships around the world for people wanting to take courses in foresight research and practice. Our entire publishing cycle from idea conception to publication is only four months. We hope that our approach to publishing will in itself be an inspiring example of how business is evolving and being reinvented in the digital era.

I had a lot of fun last week delivering an opening keynote presentation on "Tourism Futures: Mastering Diversity, Inclusivity, and Agility to Thrive in Uncertainty" at ITB Berlin - the world's largest tourism event. The session was wonderfully hosted by the brilliantly on the ball and always effervescent Charlotte Lamp Davies of A Bright Approach.

I was given free reign to explore diversity and inclusion in the broadest possible context and share some of the emerging finds from our current study on the Future Leisure Traveller. I've had a fabulous response to the themes covered - suggesting the industry can up its game and its thinking - particularly around including the 50% or more who might never take what we think of as a vacation.

The survey remains open until midnight PST on March 19th and you can complete it here: https://lnkd.in/eEaNE8Ai

One week, three major advances. More tools for the geekerati, or could these really start to get beyond the hype and start making tangible improvements to operational performance in the wider world? It may not take long to find out.

In a mindblowing week of developments, we saw the launch of the function and the mind blowing text to video platform - also from . In between these two events, 's also launched its 1.5 development which offers a massive uplift in it capacity for long-context understanding across modalities - e.g. the amount of text, images, or video we can provide to it when prompting.

The amount of information that can be presented as context is measured in tokens. For example, Turbo has a 128,000 token context widow, has 200,000, and DeepMind claims that it can now run up to 1 million tokens.

To put this in context, Google's blog states that: "This means 1.5 Pro can process vast amounts of information in one go — including 1 hour of video, 11 hours of audio, codebases with over 30,000 lines of code or over 700,000 words. In our research, we’ve also successfully tested up to 10 million tokens."

The blog (see link below) shows an impressive example of Gemini 1.5 Pro demonstrating its ability to "understand, reason about and identify curious details in the 402-page transcripts from Apollo 11’s mission to the moon."

Google is currently offering a limited preview of Gemini 1.5 Pro to developers and enterprise customers via AI Studio and Vertex AI, and will introduce 1.5 Pro with a standard 128,000 token context window "when the model is ready for a wider release." They will offer pricing that starts at a baseline 128,000 context window and scales up to 1 million tokens, as the model is improved. the model.

Google states that "Early testers can try the 1 million token context window at no cost during the testing period, though they should expect longer latency times with this experimental feature. Significant improvements in speed are also on the horizon."

More information about the launch and a demo of the Apollo 11 query can be found here:

Fuller details and demos of Gemini's capabilities can be found here:https://deepmind.google/technologies/gemini/ -1.0

Gemini 1.5 delivers dramatically enhanced performance, with a breakthrough in long\u002Dcontext understanding across modalities.
