A new Windsurfing Hall of Fame category has been launched, a 'Windsurfing Events' Hall, and yesterday the very first event was inducted into this at a special ceremony in Germany.
The Citroen Windsurf World Cup Sylt celebrated it's 40th anniversary edition this week and becomes the inaugural member in this newly created 'Hall'.
Organisers Mathias Neumann and Birgit Ballhause were also inducted into the 'Pioneers and Promoters' Class of 2024 in recognition of the many years work they have put into making the event the success it has been on the PWA World Tour.
Also presented with a commemorative photo was Jorg Elias of the Sylt Tourism bureau who has been instrumental in working with the event over many years.
On stage in Sylt, .Magazin Chief Editor, Andreas Erbe, a Media Hall of Famer in the Class of 2021 was recognised with a certificate, as was PWA photographer John Carter, who is also in the Class of 2021.
No ceremony would be complete on Sylt without Bjorn Dunkerbeck, who is an icon of the event after competing here for so many years, a household name in Germany, and is also in the Hall of Fame Class of 2021.
The ceremony was live streamed and can be watched in full here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bplWCuGy8Qkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bplWCuGy8Qkhttps://media.pwa-worldtour.com/
