Thinking of diving into the nail industry? Whether you’re just starting out or already on your journey, here’s some advice to help you thrive along the way 😊:

📚 Continuous Learning: Stay curious and keep expanding your skills. Take advantage of workshops, online courses, and industry events to stay ahead of the game.

⏰ Time Management: Master the art of juggling multiple clients and appointments by creating a solid schedule and prioritising tasks efficiently. (I’ve only just mastered this after so many years!) It takes discipline, but the rewards are so worth it! Investing in an online booking system was a game changer for me!

💅 Investing in Quality Products: Quality over quantity, always! However just because some products are more expensive, it doesn’t necessarily make them the “best” products! Be sure to do your research before you Invest in top-notch products to ensure stunning results and happy clients.

🚧 Client Boundaries: Set clear boundaries from the get-go to maintain professionalism and protect your energy. Your well-being comes first!

💰 Financial Management: Keep tabs on your finances from day one. Budget wisely and track expenses to ensure your business stays on the path to success.

🤝 Networking Opportunities: Don’t be afraid to reach out and build relationships with fellow nail techs and industry pros, you never know where a valuable connection might lead! So many of my pop-up nail bar opportunities have come from doing this!

🎨 Passion for Creativity: Let your creativity soar! Embrace your love for artistry and innovation—it’s what sets you apart in this vibrant industry. Try not to let social media cloud your own creativity, sometimes it’s nice to just step away from it and let your own imagination run its course.

💆‍♀️ Self-Care is Vital: Don’t forget to take care of YOU. Prioritise self-care to prevent burnout, protect your mental health and keep your passion alive.

Remember, the nail scene is buzzing with opportunities for those who are willing to put in the work and embrace their unique talents. 🤍

🚨MMA has been banned for use in nail products in many countries, including the UK, due to its potential to cause allergic reactions, skin irritation, and long-term damage to the natural nails. Educate yourself on the dangers of MMA to protect both your clients and yourself.

Here are 5 ways to detect MMA:

1️⃣ Strong Chemical Odor: MMA emits a distinctively strong and pungent chemical odor similar to nail polish remover or acrylic monomer, and can sometimes have a fishy odor. If you notice an unusually potent smell during the nail service, it could be a sign that MMA is present.

2️⃣ Excessive Hardness: MMA-based acrylic products tend to be excessively hard and difficult to file compared to traditional acrylics. If the product feels unusually hard or resistant to filing, it may indicate the presence of MMA.

3️⃣ Lack of Responsiveness to Acetone: MMA-based acrylics are resistant to acetone, the primary ingredient in nail polish removers. If the product being removed does not dissolve, soften or flake off when exposed to acetone, it could be an indication that MMA is present.

4️⃣ Products containing MMA may be sold under misleading or generic labels, making them challenging to identify. Be cautious of products lacking proper labeling or ingredient lists, as they may contain MMA or other harmful substances.

5️⃣ MMA is more likely to be used in unlicensed or unprofessional nail salons that prioritise cost-saving measures over client safety. Pay attention to the cleanliness, professionalism, and reputation of the salon, and inquire about the products being used if you have any concerns.
