BLOND:ISH: Making history as Pacha's first female headline resident

BLOND:ISH has been confirmed as Pacha Ibiza’s first-ever female headline resident DJ, marking a major milestone in the club’s 52-year history on the White Isle.

Announced on Monday, February 10, the news reveals that the Canadian DJ and producer will lead her own Abracadabra party at Pacha every Wednesday from May 21 to July 30, delivering an 11-week residency rooted in sustainability and community.

“We’re very happy to announce BLOND:ISH as Pacha Ibiza’s first female headline resident,” said Pacha CEO Aloki Batra in a statement to Mixmag. “Launching on May 21, she will bring her Abracadabra brand to the club for an 11-week residency.”

“I've been going to Ibiza since I was 17, so you can imagine that I’ve been dreaming about a residency and what I can bring to the island that’s unique,” BLOND:ISH shared. “Energy is everything, and you can be sure that we will bring fresh energy to the island. It’s something you need to experience in person on Wednesdays at Pacha Ibiza with Abracadabra.”

While Abracadabra is the first female-led party brand to secure a regular slot at Pacha, the club has previously hosted standout female residents, including Cassy, Sarah Main, DJ Paulette, and Sam Divine.

Barry Can't Swim: The Brit nominated rising star in dance music

The buzz around producer and artist Barry Can't Swim is undeniable, and we at Electric are loving it! With funky, vibrant grooves, he’s been lighting up 2024 with massive gigs, from Glastonbury to Coachella. He’s even snagged nominations for both a Brit Award and a Mercury Prize.

2025 is shaping up to be just as big. He’s already kicked off the year by landing third place on the BBC’s Sound of 2025 list.

On the rise for about five years now, Barry Can't Swim has gained more exposure and praise with every release. His latest album reached number 12 in November—a milestone for this humble artist, who remains grounded and grateful for his success.

As for his name? Barry shared the story with BBC Radio 6 Music:
“I’ve just got a mate who’s called Barry, and he can’t swim. When I chose the name, I really wasn’t expecting it to become my full-time career, with everyone thinking my name’s Barry!”

Originally from Edinburgh, Joshua Mainnie (his real name) fell in love with dance music after exploring the nightclubs around the Cowgate area as a student. You can hear his passion for club culture in his productions, effortlessly bridging the gap between live bands and electronic music.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on him and can’t wait to drop some of his new tracks in 2025!

Ibiza drops first residency shake up for 2025:
Elrow @ UNVRS

Big Tech House Production company elrow recently unveiled plans for 2025, announcing a weekly residency at Ibiza’s highly anticipated new venue, claimed as the world’s first ‘hyperclub’.

The residency promises, blending cutting-edge technology, spectacular stage design, and world-class electronic music.

Famous for the wild inflatables and entertainment, the partnership between elrow and [UNVRS] signals a new setting for immersive entertainment. [UNVRS] from what we have been reading over the last 12 months is poised to redefine clubbing with advanced technology, innovative design, and large-scale architectural excellence.

Starting June 7th, 2025, elrow will take over [UNVRS] every Saturday until October 4th, debuting four revamped themes, Hallucinarium, Kaos Garden, Sambowdrowmo & Nowmads.
Of course each theme will bring a host of A list DJs as well as the usual residents.

Cruz Arnau, co-founder of elrow, explained: “With this historic alliance we close the circle that began in 2012 with our arrival in Ibiza at Privilege’s Vista Club. Since then, we have felt at home in different clubs on the island, living magical moments at Space Club, in our residency at Amnesia, at our amazing parties at Ushuaïa Ibiza and now we are back in the big time, where it all started.

We've all been there. You're in the queue for tickets. They sell out in seconds -- but you find them on Viagogo or StubHub hours later for double or triple the face value.

This practise isn't new and has been ripping fans off for years, so in bit to combat this and fulfilling a Labour election pledge the UK government plans to cap resale ticket prices in 2025.

The cap targets the live events industry, including music, sports, comedy, and theatre, responding to complaints about touts bulk-buying tickets and reselling at steep markups.

A public consultation will determine the cap, potentially ranging from the ticket's face value to 30% above it. Ministers also propose limiting the number of tickets resellers can sell to match the original purchase limits. The consultation will also address dynamic pricing, where ticket prices increase during high demand, highlighted by the recent Oasis reunion ticket controversy.

The Competition and Market Authority (CMA) reports resale tickets are often marked up by over 50%. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy stated, "We are strengthening consumer protections to stop fans from being ripped off and to ensure money supports the live events sector, not touts."

A fairer format already operates from platforms such as TicketSwap (where the re-sale values are capped), but this is not standard across the ticketing industry.

Ticket resale platform Viagogo expressed willingness to work with the government and respond to the consultation.

Research estimates ticket touts cost UK music fans £145 million annually. In the US, the Department of Justice sued Ticketmaster parent Live Nation last May to address alleged monopolistic practices.
