On this day in 1970, Family released A Song For Me. Recorded at Olympic Studios in late 1969, the album marked a new chapter for the band after the departure of bassist/violinist Ric Grech and saxophonist Jim King. With the addition of bassist/violinist John Weider and multi-instrumentalist John ‘Poli’ Palmer, Family emerged with a fresh sound that showcased their evolving musical style.

A Song For Me became a pivotal release, reaching number four in the UK charts and solidifying the band’s growing success across Europe. Tracks like "Drowned In Wine" and "Love Is A Sleeper" captured the band’s unique blend of rock, folk, and progressive elements, and remain integral to Family’s legacy. 👉 cherryred.co/ASongForMe

Congrats to the Cats In Space guys, a wonderful new album that did fantastically well - Album of the Year and Month - and a brilliant tour as well. Some exciting plans this year as well, stay tuned!

It has been a fabulous first year with our new record label Esoteric/Cherry Red records. Thanks to Vicky, Mark, Matt and all the team there for doing a fantastic job on our new album TIME MACHINE. It has achieved so much so quickly #! A massive thanks to our team in the Spaceship for their 'dedication beyond' as we enter our 10th year! Who'd have thought it?
Our 2024 tour was a joy to be part of and we again thank James Heron for the visuals and stage production so few could dream of building. To our road crew and ever present 'Uncle' Pete Russell for the best live sound in the business. Legends.
To the fans who have supported us, bought the 'hard copy' album and helped 'Time Machine' top the polls in many places, and also for making it chart higher in the nationals than any of our previous albums, you are all stars. The incredible support from all the magazines and online websites continues to prove to us that what we do is appreciated and supported... You know who you are - thank you!
2025 will see us continue the campaign, more shows, new territories, but there will also be a lot of surprises along the way. To the 'newbies' who cannot get our older albums? stay tuned... We have a hunch it is going to be very busy in 2025.
