Many platforms throttle a live stream by reducing the video quality in order to limit the costs of streaming as it’s an expensive business when scaled up. Streaming involves large quantities of servers processing the video streams consuming lots of power, server rental in datacentres (“cloud” does not avoid servers) and above all bandwidth and connectivity (peering) with the carrier networks who deliver the streams to the viewers’ internet providers and or mobile operators.

The CDN market continues to change and evolve. We have recently seen the termination of CDN video streaming services from the likes of Azure and Lumen and at the same time public and private cloud video streaming services continue to develop. Power costs in datacentres are not going down and the quest for ever increased video quality (HD/UHD/4K and beyond) are expected inspite of the dominance of mobile viewing and often restricted connectivity globally.
 
The Streaming Company continues to develop its own private cloud infrastructure for global video streaming coverage, and is one of the pioneers of Realtime live video with sub one second glass to glass latency (camera to your screen).

TSC was delighted to assist in a very worthwhile cause - supporting St Barnabas and the fantastic support they provide to so many.
