Hannah was inspired by a recent article in The Economist's 1843 magazine titled โTaylor Made: Think you know the story of how Taylor Swift took on the music industry? The reality is far more complicated.โ The Economistโs piece chronicles Swift's journey from talented country-singing teenager to global megastar, including the complex middle phaseโher unsuccessful attempt to purchase her original masters catalogue from Big Machine Records, the producer of her first six albums.โ

"As Swift grew more successful, she became frustrated that she didn't own these. Although she got modest royalties from her songs, she wasn't earning as much as she would if she had owned the masters outright. And she didn't have full control over how her songs were used."โ

Last week, on 29th May, the Whitefox team had the pleasure of attending the launch of ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐๐ช๐ฑ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ต๐ฐ ๐๐ข๐ด๐ต ๐๐ฆ๐ต๐ด: ๐ ๐ฑ๐ช๐ญ๐ฐ๐ตโ๐ด ๐ญ๐ช๐ง๐ฆ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐บ๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ช๐ณ ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ค๐ฆ 1942โ1973 at the Royal Air Force Club in Piccadilly.
This book faithfully recounts Kenโs experiences, featuring stunning photographs, paintings and posters of the planes he piloted and key events he witnessed. It captures the story of an ordinary manโs experiences caught up in extraordinary circumstances, throughout a century marked by geopolitical turmoil and rapid technological advances.
Ken Aedy served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1942 to 1973. He experienced the rapid evolution of aviation technology, piloting everything from biplanes to fast jets. A passionate flyer, Ken was deeply committed to the RAF and public service. The eventโs date held special significance as it marked what would have been Kenโs 100th birthday.
Donations from the event and book launch will contribute to the RAF Benevolent Fund, supporting the RAF family, both past and present. These funds will be allocated where they are most needed, ranging from mental health and wellbeing support for serving personnel, to activities for children with serving parents, to social inclusion activities and support for older veterans and their dependents.
The book is published by Whitefox on 13th June 2024.
