2. A new Edinburgh restaurant owned by the chef Henry Dobson is to use more than 90 products from his family farm.

3. A new Indian gastropub has launched in Archway.

4. New in Marylebone is the West African restaurant Shakara, which has taken over the space once occupied by Ooty.

The Danish chef Anna Søgaard, formerly of hit restaurants Bistro Freddie and Erst, is getting back in the kitchen with a new concept, Jomfru. A Nordic, seafood-led residency at Dina Wines in Leytonstone, it will be a ‘celebration of classic Danish dishes and modern takes’. On the menu, dishes such as smørrebrød, oysters, pickled herrings and roasted pork with cabbage. Jomfru will launch on Friday 17. Book via Dina Wines.

What happened in hospitality last week? An update from the CODE bulletin newsletter:

1. Tatar Bunar is to open in Shoreditch in March, marking a London debut for the Ukrainian restaurateurs Alex Cooper & Anna Andriienko.

2. Locanda Locatelli has closed after 23 years.

3. Phil Howard is continuing his collab series this year following a successful run in 2024. Upcoming at Elystan Street in the coming weeks are nights with Alexis Gauthier, Emily English & Tom Gilbey.

4. A third Berenjak has been announced.

South London sandwich slinger Ruben’s Reubens has launched next door at Darby’s in Nine Elms. By day, from 8am, a bakery, with pastries, sourdough bagels, coffees and juices, as well as a daily pasta dish, a soup of the day, cheeses and charcuterie. Come evening, a collaborative bar menu alongside Darby’s founder Robin Gill.

Ruben — from CODE's 30 under 30 class of 22/23 — arrives off the back of a research trip to New York and so on the bar snacks menu will be pickles, soy devilled eggs, house-smoked sausages and burnt ends, chicken wings and beef spare ribs. Oysters, too, and a house burger. It goes further thanks to the arrival of Irish master sommelier Gearoid Devaney of Flint Wines. He’s working with Darby’s own Don Tindall on an ‘ambitious’ new wine list. These alongside ‘candlelit bar vibes’: expect barrel aged negronis, lots of bourbon and Irish whiskey, picklebacks and Darby’s daiquiris.

1. The team behind Anglelina is to open a pasta & grill restaurant in Shoreditch next year.

2. One of London’s finest taquerias, La Chingada — up there with Sonora — has opened a third site.

3. Santiago Lastra & the Fonda team have now opened the downstairs dining room & bar, Sala Rosa, a smaller, more intimate space.

4. Officina 00 is opening a new restaurant in Covent Garden.

Notting Hill restaurant Orasay is to close on New Year’s Eve. Chef-founder Jackson Boxer said he plans to relaunch the space as a new, more casual restaurant next year, moving away from a seafood-led menu focusing on catch from UK day boats. Boxer conceded Orasay, which opened in 2019 to solid reviews, was ‘never a very lucrative business’.

2. A new pub & Basque restaurant will open in Belgravia next year.

3. St Albans favourite Gracey’s Pizza one of the UK’s first New Haven-style pizzerias in the UK, is popping up at Battersea’ Arcade Food Hall until December 31.

4. Terry's Cafe London is getting together with Soho bar Three Sheets London on Wednesday December 11 to put on a night of live music, oysters, champagne & dirty martinis.
