Today, Tim Minchin, who has been a household name in comedy for over 20 years, has announced a summer 2025 tour, called SONGS THAT THE WORLD WILL NEVER HEAR. Steam was tasked with creating a promo trailer that showcases all the “hardcore rock’n’roll nerding” (Minchin’s own words) that is about to transpire at this hilarious series of shows.
It’s been another brilliant, jam-packed year for us at Steam Motion and Sound, with an exciting catalogue of projects. Whilst we gear up for 2025, we wanted to share some of our highlights from this year!

Starlight Express, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sci-fi musical telling the story of a steam engine fighting for his place in a rapidly modernising world, is now playing at London’s Troubadour Theatre. The musical, who released their cast album last month, tasked Steam with creating a trailer showcasing the best of the shows impressive new production.
The Tony & Grammy Winning Musical Hadestown, with music, lyrics, and book by Anais Mitchell, has just released its Live from London cast album.
Steam was asked to create two music videos for the show’s most iconic songs: “All I’ve ever Known” and “Way Down Hadestown” to accompany the release. PCheck out the best moments from those here and watch the full versions on the Hadestown YouTube channel.
Last night, #The DevilWearsPrada had its official gala opening at the West End’s Dominion Theatre. The new musical directed by Jerry Mitchell, is based on the iconic 2006 film and features music from Sir Elton John.
Steam have produced a new trailer for the London production, alongside digital-out-of-home content and digital campaign assets.
Originating in New York the 1940s, then quickly catching on in London’s West End, Kiss Me Kate has rightfully earned its place as an iconic musical hailing from the Golden Age of Broadway. Cole Porter’s musical within a musical tells the story of an ex-husband and wife, who star in a musical version of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”. Earlier this year, the Steam team produced, directed and edited the most recent production of Kiss Me Kate at London’s Barbican Theatre, into a feature film. You can catch it in cinemas in the UK from this Sunday, the 17th of November.
Disney has just announced the launch of a new electrifying musical - Hercules; coming to London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in the summer of 2025. Steam was tasked with creating a pre-sale teaser with a slightly more contemporary and upbeat feel to match the show’s fresh take on the classic Hercules tale.
Steam was asked to produce digital out-of-home content at the Outernet space in Central London, as part of a take-over celebrating Lion King’s 25th Anniversary in London’s West End. Created with assets from previous trailers, it reflected a wider campaign across London’s premiere digital outdoor advertising spaces. Alongside the screens, we created a 7.1 surround sound mix inside the Outernet main space, to accompany a 5-minute animation created by the superb @nexusstories
Tomorrow (October 19th), The Lion King team will celebrate 25 years of hit shows in London’s West End. Earlier in the year, Steam was asked to create an updated set of assets reflecting the characters and costumes that populate the iconic world of #lionking .
Based on the iconic 80s cinematic hit of the same name, Back To The Future is now also an electrifying musical experience that had its Broadway premiere at the Winter Garden Theatre in the summer of 2023. Steam recently made a for-television commercial to announce the next stage in this production’s life: a 30-city USA tour.
The Oliver Award Winning Stranger Things: The First Shadow, is currently on an extended run at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End. Steam was tasked with producing a video campaign for audiences in the UK, US and in the upside-down.
