We end the first day of July the way we started! with a super quick trip to @the_rhs Hampton Court Garden Show and the letters ... which this year have been created by Sophie Powell of @u.fl.o.london. We love the zingy colours ... the tassels are decadent and fun and the sugar snaps v v clever. Most of all it made us smile and a great way to start the month! Hope everyone has a happy July!
Five minutes worth of @nationalfloristday posts, mentions, tags and comments and it's been coming this fast all day .... not much wonder Gina is looking exhausted but we reckon everyone has had great fun!!
We are thrilled by the reaction to the first ever National Florist Day which has exceeded all our expectations ... we're wading through literally THOUSANDS of posts across all our channels so taking a tad longer than planned but we can say that THE pot made it's first trip out on the road this morning and thanks to the fabbo Brogan at Green & Bloom Plants at New Covent Garden Market has been dressed with it's first plant! OK a bit of a silly vid and the captions are useless (they obvs don't know their aspidistras from their nephs!) but what the heck ... it's supposed to be a day of fun!!!
FINAL FACES OF FLORISTRY REVEALED!

So this happened this morning ... National Florist Day Tool Kit #1 went live and our Editor, Caroline Marshall-Foster has just explained everything that's in it. The team have had loads of requests from florists still wanting to join in so they're looking to see what they can do and we'll report back when we can. In the meantime with five weeks to go we have to give another HUGE shout out to the amazing Patrons who have helped us get it this far ... couldn't have done it without them.

Female Flower Power at its best we think!! One of the most amazing things about the flower industry is how it creates work for women around the world … and at every stage of the flower’s journey. As we head towards International Women’s Day and UK Mother’s Day we go back in time to November when our Editor, Caroline Marshall-Foster caught up with the fabulous founder of Indian based Rise n' Shine Biotech Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Bhagyashree Patil. Not only a woman who broke a lot of boundaries to create one of the most sophisticated tissue culture companies in the world, but who now provides work for over 1200 women who would otherwise struggle to earn a living. And if it doesn’t seem connected to your business consider this. With over 40 million cuttings sent around the world … including a range of premium Gerbera … chances are the flowers you use in your designs will have started life in their facility. Pretty powerful stuff we reckon!
Thanks to Nicola Evans of Beau-k for the filming.
A double dose of wonderfulness as the Editor, Caroline Marshall-Foster discovered when she visited the brand new Mayfair branch of Neill Strain Floral Couture. Different size shop (there's a whole downstairs too!) and some new elements but same trade mark style and a tap to die for!
The Dorchester Hotel, London at Christmas
Caroline Marshall-Foster had a whistle stop tour and chat with @Philip Nicklin-Hammond, head of floristry at The Dorchester to discover how the largest urns in London are made and see the flower Meijer Roses named after them.
The Editor, Caroline Marshall-Foster made her annual Christmas visit to Neill Strain Floral Couture in Belgravia to see what magic he has come up with this year. It is wonderful and easy to see why it's one of the most photographed shops in London ... look out for the Mayfair video too!

From Tattie Rose a handpainted sleigh full of wreaths, traditional British Christmas Trees and a lot of old mans beard. A true intepretation of a bygone Christmas and a marvellous way to celebrate Winter Flowers Week.
For his installation for the Winter Flowers Week Shane Connolly created A Shrine to Winter with the most glorious placement of twigs, branches and some fabulous snowdrops! As the Editor says branches of beautifulness that look glorious!
A Pathway to Reflection was the aim of Hazel Gardiner for her installation at the Winter Flowers Week being held at the Garden Museum. An incredibly calm confection of dried material that smelt amazing and with a fabulous message system as well.
Carly Rogers is a florist and artist who blends her skills to create installations that may not be your typical approach to floral design but, as our Editor Caroline Marshall-Foster discovered at the Garden Museums Winter Flowers Week the effect is really rather gorgeous!
