We’re so sorry to hear that beloved British orchestra leader and session violinist Perry Montague Mason has passed away at the age of 68.

Perry graced us with his work countless times, going all the way back to ‘Highlander’ in 1986 and up until recently on scores for the likes of ‘The French Dispatch’, ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’.

Before retiring, his final session was with composer Harry Gregson-Williams on ‘Gladiator II’ in Studio One. On his last day, Hans Zimmer had arrived to hear the final cue from the film when it was revealed that one of Perry’s first sessions with the London Studio Orchestra was the original ‘Gladiator’ 25 years previously.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends, he will be greatly missed. RIP Perry.

That's a wrap for 2024! 🤯

We’ve been up to a lot in our home this year, here’s a quick recap of some of our proudest moments…

We hosted our annual Equalise event for women and non-binary people in music, and held the Mercury Awards, with English Teacher winning ‘Album of the Year’ after they joined us for Equalise! 🏆

We launched Abbey Road Live Cuts, delivering exclusive live-to-vinyl recordings, brought people together with our Lock-In series and stayed late for After Hours sessions. 💿

We welcomed Jordan Rakei as our first ever artist-in-residence and Sam Rockman as our first ever photographer-in-residence, opened our doors for Amplify week, hosted the third-annual Music Photography Awards, expanded the breadth of our mastering work with two new engineers,

AND…

Debuted a new sign above the doors! 😉

Celebrating 125 years of Noël Coward! ✨🎼

A true renaissance man of the 20th century, Noël Coward was born on this day 125 years ago.

Playwright, composer, actor, singer and master of wit, Coward was a trailblazer whose creativity and charm left an indelible mark on theatre, music and culture.

From iconic songs like ‘Mad About the Boy’ to his brilliantly sharp plays like ‘Private Lives’ and ‘Blithe Spirit’, Coward’s works captured the spirit of an era with elegance, sophistication and a touch of irreverence.

Noël recorded at Abbey Road many times over the years, going all the way back to 'Mad Dogs And Englishmen' in September 1932.

Here’s to the legacy of one of the great creative minds of the last century! 🥂

The most famous recording studio in the world...

Abbey Road Studios has been at the forefront of music creativity since Sir Edward Elgar’s inaugural performance back in 1931. An awe-inspiring location, popular with leading orchestras and artists including Florence and the Machine, Kanye West and Adele, Abbey Road has hosted many landmark recordings and technological breakthroughs.

The most famous, and oldest, purpose built recording studio in the world, Abbey Road is of course synonymous with The Beatles, but its unparalleled history spans the invention of stereo and the wild experiments of Pink Floyd to the creation of film scores for movies including Star Wars and Skyfall. Abbey Road was declared an English Heritage Grade II listed site in 2010, but the focus continues to be on the future and helping to spread the expertise and knowledge present within the building to a new generation of musicians, engineers and producers around the world.
