Today’s fun event - Designing Sherlock Holmes Games - a talk and demonstration by Dave Neale, game designer extraordinaire. Some of our number were already keen gamers, for others it was an introduction to a fascinating new world. And after a very pleasant lunch those wished were able to stay on and have a go!

We were in the Morpeth Arms on Millbank, a splendid Victorian pub with river views and allegedly the watering-hole of choice for spies, being very near both MI5 and MI6.

We were hearing about the history of Bow Street, from the Bow Street Runners onward, about some nasty criminals and about poor Oscar Wilde - but I couldn’t help thinking about Bertie Wooster, in the dock for nicking a policeman’s helmet on Boat Race Night.

The Sherlock Holmes Society plays the PG Wodehouse Society at cricket every year.
This year’s match will be played on 23 June, at the West Wycombe Cricket Club. Come along - it’s free and no booking required. Bring a picnic and a rug or a deckchair. Plenty of parking available.

The team organising the Society’s trip to India have now confirmed that there is more than enough interest in the trip for it to go ahead. The trip will be arranged by India travel specialists TransIndus, and destinations will include Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Shimla and, naturally, Agra. Annual Dinner 2024 – “The Mongoose Munch”
20 January 2024 @ 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm at the House of Commons

Booking on the website has closed for the Annual Dinner but we have a couple of places still available. Full details of the event are on the website. If any member wants to make a booking, or bring a further guest, their applications will be treated on a first come first served basis. If you wish to book, please contact [email protected]
