The Charity Film Awards was a blast last night. Thank you to Simon Burton and his team for putting on such a fantastic event. Our signature film for ScotsCare didn't win but we are so pleased to have made it to the shortlist. Congratulations to SafeNet Domestic Abuse and Support Services who won the category and to all the other winners..

We are delighted to announce that Kate and Rio Ferdinand have become Patrons of Child Bereavement UK. Rio has been a friend of the charity since coming to Child Bereavement UK to film with bereaved young people as part of his 2017 BBC 1 BAFTA-winning documentary Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad following the death of his first wife, Rebecca, in 2015. He featured in our campaign and returned to the charity with Kate to film for their 2020 BBC1 documentary: Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily.

The documentary explores the challenges as Kate (née Wright) integrates into the family and becomes a stepmum to Rio’s three children. The couple join a discussion group at our Buckinghamshire bereavement service where children and young people supported by the charity give Rio and Kate advice based on what helped them. Rio’s three children then take part in a support group for bereaved young people at our East London service.

Kate and Rio said:
“It’s been a huge shift for us reaching out to Child Bereavement UK, and what we’ve gained as a family has been invaluable. We’re both delighted to become Patrons of Child Bereavement UK and to be able to continue to raise awareness of the charity’s phenomenal work.” http://ow.ly/PgCE50yMDpH

Absolutely essential viewing. By far the best documentary I've ever seen. A really poignant, moving, harrowing, tender and thought provoking film about life under siege in Aleppo, 2016.

For Sama is a feature documentary that tells the astonishing story of a 26-year old female Syrian filmmaker, Waad al-Kateab, who filmed her life in rebel-held Aleppo through 5 years of the Syrian uprising. Directed by Waa al-Kateab and Edward Watts

Today marks 25 years since the charity was launched in the presence of Diana, Princess of Wales. Thank you to all our families, professionals, volunteers, staff, trustees, patrons and supporters who have been part of our journey, rebuilding lives together.
