Pulau Weh, also known as Sabang, is Indonesia’s northwesternmost island, located off the coast of Sumatra where the Andaman Sea meets the Indian Ocean.

This volcanic island is known for its coral reefs, home to marine life such as moray eels and giant clams, as well as underwater volcanic features like fumaroles. It is a popular spot for diving and snorkeling.

You might recognize Salzburg: The Sound of Music was filmed here in 1964, though interestingly, most Austrians have never seen the movie! The film isn't nearly as popular in Austria as it is internationally.

Philae Island is located on the Nile, just south of Aswan. It's home to the impressive Temple of Isis, which was built by the Ancient Egyptians. In the 1970s, UNESCO relocated the temple to Agilkia Island to protect it from the rising waters of the Aswan Dam.

A boat ride to Agilkia is the perfect way to take in the view – the temple reflects beautifully in the calm water as you approach.
