Ever fancied playing synth mid-air? Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers have teamed up to create Bloom: Open Space. The augmented reality project uses VR headsets to control music and visuals, creating the illusion of a piano floating in the air. We're on board!

Science can tell us a lot about how music can spark a complexity of emotions but there is still a blanket of mystery surrounding the exact reasons for this. Queue composers who can make assumptions about the emotions conveyed through music based on style, technique and instrumentation. As Adam Sankowski, music psychologist at Harvard Medical School, explains, "The music just allows you to open up and release the emotions you were already feeling."

We all have songs that affect our mood but how do composers do it and what are the physical, psychological and emotional effects?

Artist Evan Holm created an incredible art installation that not only looks incredibly peaceful but actually works underwater. The Submerged Turntable installation combines natural elements like water and wood that is covered in moss. The spinning platter creates a beautiful whirlpool that’s amazing to witness. You can’t buy this unfortunately but it certainly would have been a focal point of our living room.

Pinuccio Sciola, a renowned Italian sculptor, was one of those artists who used sound in his sculptures. Often called “the man who makes the rocks sing”, his most famous works are the Pietre Sonore, or the Sounding Stones: sculptures, often made of limestone, that he used to play with his hands or with small rocks.
