A month ago, the tiny Caribbean island of Cariacou, so small that a phone can’t autospell it was hit by hurricane Beryl which was more devastating to the island than Ivan had been to other islands in 2004. My friends Selwyn aka Milo Lapis and his cousin Derek’s families live on Cariacou, it’s where their parents came to the UK from. Selwyn’s cousins here in the UK bought a used shipping container and the family rallied to fill it and four barrels with supplies and shipped it to Cariacou a couple of weekends ago. The cost of the operation is 5k and can be repeated if the money can be raised. There are other Cariacou donation gofundme pages but this one is personal and everything goes straight to Cariacou in the form of supplies. Selwyn’s daughter Kayla Nicole has put the page together, she’s a star and the whole family have been working hard for their home island relatives and community. I’ll be helping with a donation and of course by sharing. You might know someone from the island, you might sympathise, so here is the link.
