Cameroon is home to Africa's oldest forest, the Korop National Park Forest. This ancient forest, dating back 60 million years, resides in the southwestern province near the Nigerian border. The forest boasts a rich biodiversity with approximately 4,509 herb species, 600 tree species and shrubs. Its towering canopy ranges from 15 to 25 meters, with emergent trees soaring up to 50 meters high.

Korop National Park Forest supports a diverse wildlife population, including over 100 species of mammals, 435 bird species, 170 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 140 types of fish. Among its inhabitants are several primate species such as chimpanzees, red-capped mangabeys, red-eared monkeys, red colobus monkeys, baboons, and the endangered drill. Other notable mammals include leopards, duikers, buffalos, and elephants.

Despite its ecological importance, many species within the park face threats from poaching and other human activities, putting them at risk of extinction.
